This manga didn't hook me right away. Probably because I found the characters hard to relate with. Also, this manga seemed to be eerily reflective of our world. There was always this slight sense of dread and helplessness when reading this. Even so, it contained hope too. Strangely, my favorite part of this manga may be the ending. Without spoiling it, I loved the character interactions Nanato had. I loved how alive everything seemed. Back to the beginning of the manga, I didn't really like the narration. Though, written eloquently. It didn't feel immersive for me. I theorized that one of the children was reading

It's a slow-paced story, and I enjoyed it very much.
The main character (Hiiragi) is a lone, depressed woman. Despite her feelings, she tries to improve little by little. Whenever a new chapter was translated, I was excited to read it. Hiiragi struck a deep chord with me. And she motivated me too. For instance, Hiiragi once chose to draw despite her lack of skill. When I do something, though badly, I think of that moment. This manga shows, eloquently, how small efforts feel big. Perhaps they are big. I'm very sad this manga ended suddenly. Whenever I have the resources, I'll try to buy the volumes. ... Oct 29, 2024

The storytelling in the first 3 chapters sucks ass. There's zero subtlety and the dialogue is embarrassing. It's insulting to the reader's intellect. That wouldn't be an issue if this was a romance comedy- oh, it is. Ok, that's surprising. Nothing remotely funny happened so far.
Anyhow, the main issue probably comes from the fact that this manga tries to be deep. "Show, don't tell" is clearly a foreign concept for the author. The scenarios and (moral) messages are predictable. The premise had (some) potential but it was done blandly. The art style is nice, nothing special. I'll still finish this, who knows maybe it gets ... |
