It's cute, however the only real justification for these characters liking each other is that he likes that she cooks and cleans for him and she likes that he's the first guy that was nice to her. Toss the age gap into the mix and you get a manga that gets progressively more worrisome as it goes. Normally, I would try to ignore Red Flags in reading romance, but they don't let you forget the age gap! He calls her "kid" and she calls him "sensei". It's just weird.

Additionally, it feels rather forced and rushed. They start dating with little enthusiasm. If I'm going to ... endure a 11-12 year age gap, I want it to be for a good reason.

I like the characters a lot, and the issues they traverse are very real and important. It has a lot of good ideas, but it just doesn't make my heart flutter. Several times I found myself cringing at being reminded of just how weird their age gap was.

The FL would be better in a highschool romance and the ML would be better if he wasn't dating a highschooler.

I have never left a review before, but this anime was so bad I had to. It is so appallingly bad, and not even in a bad but good way. It's just bad. I feel worse for having watched it.

With that off my chest, lets talk about why it's bad. I'll try to keep this spoiler free. First, it does not warn you about the tone. Sure, it's rated R. But I didn't check. Like most people, I saw the cover image, promising a call to adventure through the eyes of a young witch, and I jumped on it. I watched this before I saw ... Frieren. If you want something like what I just said, just watch Frieren instead.

The tone is DARK. Pointlessly dark. There is no character development, there is no point to the malicious and gross shit you witness in this show. I have watched shows considered "dark" before. While not usually my cup of tea, it usually serves a narrative purpose, and you are compelled to keep watching/reading by the complicated characters or clever plot. This has none of that. The main character sucks and is one of the only reoccurring characters. We get her backstory, and you think it shows her developing as a character and then it just cuts back to her being heartless. And I mean heartless. Basically the plot of this show is Elania traveling the world to witness evil and do nothing about it because she couldn't give a shit about other people. If she doesn't care about the world, why should I?

This show is a waste of your time. It doesn't get better. I warned you.

Maybe I'll rate it lower when the high of the show wears off, but for now, I'm still reveling in the nice wrap up of the last episode.

First, you have to understand that it is primarily a comedy show based off of that hitting 30s depression. You know the one. Where you feel like you aren't living up to what you expected as a child, or you feel like you've just been wasting your years. Some would argue that this downplays the characters suffering, but I would argue that this it shows the audience that these feelings are okay and you can still find fun ... in your day to day life.

The show plays a lot into irony, contrasting the cheerful personas the characters take on for filming and the tiredness they feel afterwards. The main ensemble are all hitting their 30s and are feeling restless with their lives. The show uses comedy as a vehicle for the theme of finding satisfaction in day to day life. I enjoyed it immensely, and it was an easy watch.
