Ever watch paint dry? Ever ate cardboard?

That is what reading this manga is like. it's so bland. It's so boring and more than anything else, it's incredibly lifeless.

This is a manga where the main character is kicked out of the heroes party for being useless by the hero and his harem party filled with girls. Now, this next part might shock you, turns out the entire party is trash. They're all weaklings and the only reason they were strong is because of mc's support magic. Crazy revelation right? The exiled mc was actually the strongest.

Anyway, the only reason I gave this obviously generic and ... trashy manga a try is because usually, the exiled party member ends up making friends and then joining their party starting from F-rank, slowly making their way back up to the top where they meet the heroes party again and show off how much better they are.

This one was different, sort of. Immediately after getting kicked out the heroes' party and getting mugged for all his money by the hero, the mc gets into a convenient convo with this S-rank girl searching for a white mage, which mc just so happens to be. So anyway, she pulls mc along and then he joins their party. The whole meeting with the party felt bland. It felt so forced, like the author had no idea how to actually write powerful people. In what world does a party of the very top power adventurers just talk to some random guy and trust him immediately.

The hero is a one dimensional trash who is obsessed with looking good and doesn't care about anyone else. He's a massive hypocrite and he's kinda like the spear hero from shield hero but without any redeeming qualities.

Overall, The art was subpar at best and all the actions felt so forced, it didn't come naturally. The whole series felt like a bunch of amateur actors reading and following a script.

It is trash.

If it was just focused on an op mc doing op things and his conflict with the main antagonist who is his only equal then it could've been good.

However, there is that super fucking annoying love interest girl and the way mc acts around her is nauseating.

Then there is the side cast including mc's girl. They are all useless, only there to fill in the story. They do a whole load of NOTHING. I get that mc alone can't fight a whole army of strong beings and that he needs to train them and shit but damn they all suck.

Also all the blatant ... lewd and ecchi things.

This series is genuinely so bad, if you've seen the anime you already know it's bad, but not that bad. Ultimately what makes kenja no mago a trash series is the romance.

Mc's main girl is genuinely so annoying, she doesn't do shit and is always seducing the mc. Not to mention that the stupid mc keeps falling for it. She's a pure girl but she's is just so FUCKING annoying. The second you start enjoying the dynamic the mc has with his friends, she just appears and mc starts acting like a blubbering buffoon. All the 'aura' that mc had farmed for the last 2 pages that we haven't seen her, gone in an instant.

I genuinely think this series could've passed a 7/10 isekai if the main love interest was just gone or at the very least introduced her later in the story when mc wasn't the most naive, braindead and common sense lacking person in the series.

Another point, mc is constantly doing things that are considered abnormal in this world. it was funny the first time but it's gotten so dry that you can't go 2 chapters without someone glazing mc to hell and back.


My points were kinda all over. All in all, this shit is ass. Don't waste your time.

This shit is so ass and I couldn't NOT recommend it enough.

Hear me out, the first like 8 chapters were great, we met many amazing characters and the relationships mc had with them was great.

But then, boom, they all die. Whatever, I was sad but it wasn't unexpected, it's just that what came after made the story go from an interesting one to trash. First of all, mc runs away to the forest and meets some talking fox that he befriends. Then mc goes to this neighboring country, cuz, y'know, he just killed like all the higher ups in his kingdom in a fit of ... rage.

In this new country, mc takes up his old job, except not really. Mc opens a business to protect merchants things for them or whatever, but we have NO idea how he did it, was just skipped entirely.

Then a whole lotta nothing happens, mc meets a giant fox god, the god gives him these powers because he gave her food and whatever.

The part that really put the nail in the coffin for me was the princess of the empire. Like I get it, she was starved for attention and affection from her father and put her trust in some super shady guys, but how can you be THAT naive to ever think anyone would support her stupid ideas. The knight guy by her side did not even hide the fact that he disliked her and she didn't notice.

Anyway, knight guy uses naive princess to start a rebellion or whatever. it fails cuz mc is there, and then the knight guy tries to kill princess and mc goes over to save her. Mind you, this is the same mc who is known as the demon king, the same mc who destroyed an entire castle with barrier and ice magic, and the same mc who got exponentially stronger after killing all those people.

And yet, he struggled like hell to defeat the knight and because of his refusal to kill because he wanted to save lives, the knight guy got even stronger and many innocent soldiers died as a result. then the knight steals this conveniently placed ring, eats it, becomes immune to magic and suddenly mc can do NOTHING, so what does mc do. He uses the random ass sword he had in this infinite bag and kills the knight guy.

What was the point of all that build up if mc was just gonna kill him with a sword.


In conclusion, the beginning was a solid 7/10, and as it went on, it got worse and worse until my final rating where I dropped it.

Perhaps the greatest donghua out there. Has animation that puts all other 3d animated donghua to shame. Story is good. The fights are amazing. Truly one of the donghua of all time.

No but fr this is truly deserving of it's rating. Watch it.

Unlike most 3d donghua this one has great animation, voices, music and above all characters. For the usually trash cultivation genre. I'd go so far as to say this one is good. I mean it still has the usual arrogant young masters but there are less of them. The subtitles are also pretty top tier for donghua. Usually donghua has trashy subtitles to ... match the quality of the donghua however this one is actually pretty good. At time it's even comparable to the Japanese subtitles. I'm not sure if there is an engilsh dub however I'd recommend watching the subbed version since unlike Japanese anime dub artists. Chinese is far harder to capture all the emotion of in donghua.

This manga is in one word: weird.

Listen this is a pretty generic power fantasy. The main reason I'm still a loyal reader of this manga is the story. I love overpowered main characters and the mc of this one is very OP. He has a unique personality unlike anything I've ever seen before. However I will say that there are some odd scenes. It's ecchi no obviously there is some weird scenes but I'd really prefer it if the mc could just wear something normal for once. I mean he's legit like 11 years old or something. Why he gotta look like this. Aside ... from the mc's art I honestly really enjoy this manga so far.

Edit: It's not just the mc wearing very revealing clothing. It's him plus like every female character. This could be a top tier fantasy manga if it just cut the ecchi in half.

An 8 imo since I'm a big fantasy and over powered mc fan. However for any sane human I'd place this between 6 or 7 depending on your tolerance

As a cultivation junkie I recommend this. Sure it's not like it's peak but what are you expecting from the cultivation genre if you know it. It is known for it's awful subtitles, arrogant young masters and loads of begging to be spared right after trying to kill the person you are begging to. Still although it gets repetitive this one skips all the needless bullshit and mc just solves everything rather quickly. Do NOT watch this is you aren't used to donghua (chinese anime) or it'll be very hard to adapt to. If you are looking for a donghua to start with I recommend ... soul loud or swallowed star

Tensura or that time I got reincarnated as a slime is an isekai. It starts off wholesome and quickly becomes... less wholesome.
Rimuru is an mc that just brings people to love him. Plus he's overpowered as fuck? Is there an isekai fan out there that doesnt love op protagonists...? probably but we don't talk about them. I'm not gonna leave some super long review about why you should watch this. Just know that it has some amazing world building, likeable characters, goblins that are not like the ones from goblin slayer and good animation. Plus the sounds and music are also very good. If you ... are one of the few isekai fans who havent seen this. I highly recommend it. That said. If you are newer to the isekai genre then I HIGHLY recommend this anime. It was my first ever isekai and I've rewatched it like 5 times. Def a top tier isekai

All these people giving bad reviews are people who have gotten so used to trashy isekai that they can't differentiate between good and bad isekai anymore. Eminence in shadow is easily one of if not the best isekai to have come out recently. I'm excluding slime, re:zero, mushoku tensei and konosuba from this obviously but this shit is actually so funny. If you found konosuba funny there is no way in hell you'd dislike the eminience in shadow. Sure it's cringy, but the cringe is followed by such amazing scenes that the cringe does a full 180 and becomes cool as fuck.

The mc has ... whats called 8th grade synodrome. Most people would just say they won't watch a chuuni show but my god you are missing out. Though part of what makes this anime so good is definitely the mc's VA. That dude be pouring all of his heart, soul and cringey fantasies right into his role as cid. I don't think there is a single VA out there that fits cid as well as him.

Plus the english lines are just amazing as fuck. (not the dub) The dub was alright I guess, but compared to the sub it was garbage. The feelings put into the sub were so much better.

This is literally a story with no plot and no story but somehow has a plot and story because the mc just made it the fuck up. He's bullshitting his way through life and everything he says always comes true.
The plot bends over for this guy and lets him completely run the whole story. All y'all not liking it cuz it's got no story are ridiculous.

Lastly. I've seen some people drop this cause they don't like harem. This isn't harem. Sure he's surrounded by girls and they all are obsessed as fuck with him. But that changes nothing when he doesn't give a fuck about them. Bro doesn't give a shit about anything aside from doing cringy things he thinks look cool (and somehow do make them cool as fuck).

So if you are looking an anime where mc gets loads of wives and becomes the lord of some domain then you've come to the wrong place.

Easily a 10/10 isekai for me Though for the more cultured (older) isekai fans this should easily be 8 for you.

Just give it a try. If it's too cringe for you and you can't handle it then that's just how it is. You are too mature too handle the cringy edge god bullshit from this anime.

I'm an isekai junkie so I am also naturally going to gravitate over to the overpowered fantasy anime as well.

Misfit of demon king academy is the typical over powered main character but better. I mean the story is by no means better than many fantasy and isekai stories. It still pulls you in with the badass op mc.

The first season of the misfit of demon king academy was amazing (for the source) The VA for anos fit perfectly and the animation and sound quality were both very good.

The second season was a bit of a disappointment I would say. It wasn't as big a ... disappointment as shield hero season 2 but it def wasnt what I was super hyped waiting for.

Part 1 or eps 1-6 of season 2 were just not good. The subtitles had the wrong names, the story took a sudden turn with next to no explanation and it just felt boring and repetitive. The worst part though was that anos's VA changed. The new VA is great don't get me wrong. But he doesn't fit anos's cocky image. Anos just sounded super serious at all times and lost his playful cockiness and he had knowing damn well he was the strongest in season 1.

Season 2 part 2 on the other hand is a different story. Sure it went on hiatus and we had to wait a while for it but that doesn't matter since most people had given up hope on it after the disaster of the first 6 eps.

The last 6 eps of the season where splendidly done in my opinion though. I don't want to spoil so I recommend you watch it yourself but I feel that those last episodes made up for the first half of the season.

Highly recommended. If you love anime with loads of twists this is def for you. It's a vr type anime but it doesn't stay limited to vr (similar to sao but better imo) at least better than the first couple seasons. I seriously highly recommend at least giving it a chance and you may be plesantly surprised.

I was at first expecting something very similar to sao but it ended up not being like sao at all later on in the story.
The 12 episode season covered all the material from the manga so you won't have to wait for another season
The art style fits the ... characters very well and their avatars also describe how they view themselves.
