Both progressively reveal a past story that brought the characters into their current predicament while slowly revealing the mysteries behind the past. The two's calamity has brought about genetic change in humans and both are based on a pantheon. Both stories feature a good & bad duality for all alliances.

Genocyber is like an amalgam of Akira & Elfen Lied. Since E.L. anime didn't age so well give Genocyber a try, you won't be disappointed.

As the episodes advance, it chronologically changes in time. Finally arriving at a crucial junction. Despite the runtime and episode count differences, they both run at about the same. Both are in my top 20 - I just prefer Mnemosyne a little tincy wincy bit more than kurozuka.

High stakes with added elements to the sport. Both execute this very well; albeit differently, non-the-less you will be at the edge of your seat and root for more than just the main character.

Gothic feel, berserk's gothic theme is from centuries past - gilgamesh's gothic theme is futuristic, not too far in the future where it seems unrecognizable. I hate to spoil the surprise, yet both have an intense ending that makes the whole experience worth the wait.
