The manga of After School Insomniacs is a brilliant 10/10 everyone should read, at least if you are in your late 20s or older and have the sort of perspective on being a teenager you get with age. It's genuinely brilliant. Nothing made me tear up like those last two chapters and not for the reason you might think if you've only read some of it.

I think I dropped the anime about the same place I dropped the manga. It just became boring and frankly I may one day go back and read the manga because people do praise the action (which wasn't really top notch when I was reading it at this point but might have improved subsequently). But by this point the joke had worn thin, it's a very average story and neither in the manga nor the anime was it good enough to keep my attention.

This suffers the fate of almost all twists on/parodies of generic isekai/generic fantasies based on light novels. In that after an hour or two you've had your fill of the premise, or the author can't really think of much else to do and it ultimately just become just another generic isekai in one way or another.
This fares better than some in that it really commits to the super sentai bit. However the smattering of good jokes etc just aren't good enough to justify the generic isekai with pretty low quality animation. It's route and predictable in all other aspects and it ultimately started to ...

This would have been a world better in a world of 13 epiosde anime season where it was forced to cut all the fluff.
This should be the Misaka show with her sidekick roommate and it just isn't. Misaka is a borderline a side character at points, particularly in the latter part of the series. And while the roommate has her moments but no one else does or is interesting and they effectively become the main characters. The first seriers was really good. It had enough about story and characters and and the art style and the music and so on that the mid animation in much of it didn't matter.
This is just poor. I can't believe how much they ruined this after a season I thought was just fantastic. The particularly depressing thing is I was hoping going forward the quality of the anime would at least stay constant and being an anime they might try and fix some of the bigger problems of the manwha which start emerging in this arc (although this contains those problems at their lightest touch) ...

It's a definite attempt at a tongue in cheek parody of isekai power fantasy trash.
However that level of tongue in cheek only works to a point in this show. They don't commit to it and to make it work as the show goes on. After the early episodes it stops being funny how absurdly over the top it is and just becomes over the top with some comedy aspects. As after the first 5 episodes or so the show loses the intention to mock itself and replaces it with occasional comedy plots/character which is just much weaker. Girl, DTMFA and find someone better - he's either got diagnosable intimacy/social anxiety issues you can't help him with or is just asexual. Either way you can do better and find someone who will fulfill you romantically and sexually and who you will not have to mother as a way of gaining any sort of attention or intimacy.

Genuinely one of the worst anime I've ever seen and I read a lot of sci-fi and in terms of scifi outside of anime it's also abysmal.
Tedious, formulaic and genuinely no redeeming features. It does't even look good. It's genuinely terrible.
