No stakes ever in this show, aside for animation, nothing going for it.
It tries to be the most unfunny, boring anime ever made.
Every single episode is the same - they meet a guy that knows frieren. They met 70 years ago, they have a quest, they mention Himmel the Hero. The quest is over because power of friendship. Insane how bad it is, no plot no stakes no comedy no character development. Meaningless slop
I feel like watching the same episode over and over and over again. There's nothing new except for the animation, which is actually the only strong point. The only actually fun part

of the story is maybe the spells and their uniqueness but after a while it's corny and very on the nose with, waiting on a "look a quirky silly spell that makes you meow periodically" or something along these lines.
If not for the fanatical fanbase it would be a 4/10 at best. Season 1 was kinda fun with the way it played out, it felt like there was something to it but season 2 where nothing changes. Season 1 had SOME story and was trying to have a plot, season 2 is the laziest most boring slop with nice animation.
If you like a pretty animation or You need sleep aid and don't like melatonin then it's for You.
If you like a compelling story and character development go watch anything else, literally anything has better story than this garbage.
