Once in a few years, a great anime with gorgeous animation, beautiful story and complex, multi-dimensional characters will appear and take the world by storm. But even rarer, just sometimes, barely even, you will witness a story that is so simple, so mundane yet charming, funny and heart-warming. Such is the strange case of Food Court de, Mata Ashita or See You Tomorrow at the Food Court.
If you ever see the concept of this anime on paper, you would swear up and down that it will never work. Just 2 girls talking about anything happening throughout their days and that's it. Yet someway, somehow, Japan
...
always proves me wrong.
Wada and Yamamoto seems like the opposite of each other. One is talkative and childish, one is mature and quiet. YYet they're the best of friends and everyday after class, they spent their afternoon together tucked away in a small corner of the mall's fast food court.
The charming point of this show is of course Wada, Yamamoto and their beautiful friendship. It seems so genuine and the way they're talking to each other is quite realistic. I can definitely imagine two high school girls talking to each other that way. It also has a catchy op song.
There's not much more to say so I'll wrap the review up. Well, the only complaint I have is it's too short. Why only 6 episodes, please give me more. For the power of friendship.

Orb: On the Movements of the Earth, a tragic and inspirational tale about human's desire in seeking truth.
I've just finished Orb and wow... just wow, I'm speechless. Of course, we all have learnt history and heard of the harsh reality of the scholars who believed in heliocentrism in ancient past. But to see it's presented as a real story totally changes my perspective. It was really a war, a crusade that human willing push through in order to seek the truth.
Now one of the thing I love most about Orb is the way it blended reality and fiction to tell a story. That's also the
...
main reason why I have read all of Dan Brown's books (Inferno, The Lost Symbol, etc...). So if you're a Dan Brown's fan like me, I can assure that you'll love Orb.
Orb: On the Movement of the Earth is one of those rare shows (in all of entertainment) that I found all characters realistic and inspirational. They're deeply human. From the main cast to side characters you'll only see for a few minutes and I think that's one of the reason why I feel so affected by the things that happened to them in this anime. Sometimes, I feel completely out of breath from listening to their monolouges. I'm a bit old and my outlook on life could hardly change anymore but even so, I have to think about a lot of things while watching Orb.
Overall, Orb: On the Movement of the Earth is a 10 in my 90% of the show (And the other 10% must go to Potocki). And imo, historical anime has never been so good. We definitely need more of these psychological anime.

\Continue from the end of season 1, this time we follow Sakiko as the story slowly reveals the reasons she has to leave CRYCHIC in the first place and her own journey with Ave Mujica.
While I do find this anime is not as good as the first season, the story is a bit convoluted at times (I'm looking at you, Uika, Mutsumi - jk, I love you both) and I would like more screen times for Umiri to shine. Also, the tone shift at around ep 8 - 9 is a bit rushed and not completely satisfying like how MYGO! completely nailed that part.
But overall,
...
the drama of Ave Mujica! is very intense, darker and crippling at times, there are moments I'm on the edge of my seat. And man, the girls from Ave Mujica! are completely obsessive of each others and nothing brings me more joy watching a show.
The music is awesome, as always, I love the little play they do before the song everytime. I love bands with dark, goth theme like Ave Mujica and Roselia.'Imprisoned XII' and 'Haruhikage' probably are my favorite songs across 2 seasons. I hope to hear Ave Mujica perform on the first take someday.
I heard that there will be a season 3, I don't know how it would go but I really look forward to it.

The story follows Clay, a strong adventurer fighting in the dungeon to find her father who went missing there years ago. While fighting, she is shocked to find out that the monsters can talk and the dungeon is run by a young girl named Belle.
Got hired by Belle, she starts to learn more about the mysterious case of her father as well as the exciting new life in the dungeon.
As you can see from the synopsis above, Dungeon People is mainly a slice of life show. It has a bit of comedy, bit of action but most of all, a very well thought
...
out anime about life in the dungeon. Usually dungeon in media overall is seen as an obstacle to overcome, with this show, you could see the other side of the coin, the monsters that resides in it.
The tone of the show is quite light and comedic, but the characters are surprisingly ruthless despite their looks. A good slice of life anime is always character-driven and frankly, I do think Dungeon People nails this part nicely.
The OP is quite catchy and the animation is smooth. I think the quality for this show is definitely above average.
That's all, I just wanna talk about a gem that people might enjoy.

Mou Ippon! at its core is a coming-of-age story. Through the foolishness, stubbornness and love of adolescence, 4 friends embark on the journey of discovering themselves through the sport of Judo.
After a disappointing end in their last Judo tournament in their middle school lives, Sonoda Michi and her friend Sanae Takigawa planned to stop pursuing Judo and would just enjoy their highschool life to the fullest. But fate won't just have it, in their new school, they once again meet Towa Hiura, the last girl who beats Michi and a very passionate Judo practitioner. With a new burning passion in her heart, Michi along
...
with Sanae and Towa will spend their youth with Judo again.
I'm a fan of MMA, Judo is a great martial art, it's used by the top MMA fighters like Khabib, Islam, etc... So I just love anime exploring about stuffs like this. But as I said before, the true strength of this anime lie in the characters. The actions and the sport are great, very addicting to watch but it's actually nothing new. This is not a complaning, I'm not looking for some ground-breaking work in some all-girls anime, I just wanna have a good time and Mou Ippon definitely delivered. But I just love the passion the characters show for the sport of Judo, how their friendship tighten and become stronger through focusing on the same goal. That's the youth that I sorely miss and I think on this aspect, Mou Ippon! deserves a perfect 10!
The animation is above average, the action during the fights are actually great, fluid and detailed. It has a catchy OP and ED to boost!
Overall, to me Mou Ippon! is a case of being judged by its cover. It's overlooked and underrated. And I'd love if more people give this a chance! One of the best anime of Winter 2023.

Great world building and interesting premiere, I always love it when there's an anime which tries to do something different, the idea of apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic world interests me a lot.
But imo, the story is poorly executed, the characters' motivations don't make any sense and the side characters are very flat. There's too many elements involving time travel and mystery that feel like they're made up along the way. And the biggest mystery is explained like a powerpoint presentation then the anime just goes downhill from there.
What I like about Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction though is the relationship of the 2 main
...
characters are beautiful and admirable. Real friendship portrayal is appreciated.
So, is the anime worth watching? Yes. But is it a good anime? No.

I couldn't imagine when I added Hibike! Euphonium in my top ten 10 years ago, that it would hold up so well and keep getting better with each and every season after. Kyoto Animation did such a great job with this anime and I'm forever grateful for it.
So our journey with Kumiko and Reina finally have come to an end, in this season, they're third years highschool students now and the burden of leading the Kitauji band to earn gold at the National is heavily put on their shoulders. Could they finally achieve theirs and their senpai's dreams after so many tears and hard
...
works? And what await them in the future? It will all be answered in this wonderful third season.
The aspects I love the most in Hibike! Euphonium would always be the characters. Kumiko and Reina both seem to mature quite nicely and yet, at the same time, they seem to not change at all. It brings me joy to witness their friendship from day one and how they both push each other to be better. I especially like how uncertain Kumiko is about the future and Reina is about the friendship. It's really relatable and flesh the characters out. At the end, they're 2 of the most grounded characters I've ever watch in anime.
The supporting cast is also colorful and realistic, they blend in really well with the main cast and make this season more memorable. The animation, needless to say, is top-notch. Some of the most beautful and mesmerizing anime out there, there's a lot of scenes I could cut out and show a newcomer just how great a slice of life could be. The ED is catchy, some of the OSTs are emotional and heart-wrenching.
Overall, I'm happy that Hibike! Euphonium got the ending it deserves. It solidifies the anime of one of the absolute best coming-of-age slice of life of all time. I'm sad that I couldn't get more Kumiko in my life though, I wouldn't mind a movie that peeks into their adult life, come on, KyoAni, we deserve one.

It broke my heart to see my beloved series, the one that made my childhood, is nothing more than a soulless cash-grab nowadays. Nobita's Earth Symphony (like many other 'new' movies before) is an average, boring mess that fail to understand what makes Doraemon great in the first place.
Fujio F. Fujiko is not just an iconic mangaka, he's also a great story-teller. The stories he drew is adventurous, imaginative and larger than life. He's often inspired by adventure stories like One Thousand and One Nights, Treasure Island, Momotaro or Jules Verne's books, etc... As a kid, I wanted to be a part
...
of the gang to discover the world he created. Now, as a 30 year-old man rereading the manga, I still feel the same, nothing has changed, his stories are that mesmerizing. There's always a sense of real danger in his works, it makes the friendships between Nobita and his friends feel real and strong, they've been through trials and always remain loyal to each others. From there, it also highlights the differences in personalities amongst the main cast and flesh them out, that's why those characters are so beloved through generations of viewers.
There's none of that in these new movies, there's no tension, there was never a time I feel that they're in real tough situations that needs intelligence and a strong bond of friendship to overcome. Everything is solved quickly through a Dues Ex Machina, it results in a forgettable story that serves no purpose, not even entertaining.
I hope they stop making these movie and tarnish the legacy of the series I love. Doraemon deserves so much better than this.

It's mundane, repetitious but it's life and sometimes you can't help but appreciate the beauty of it. Such is the case of Gimai Seikatsu or 'Days with my stepsister', my pick for the best coming-of-age anime of 2024.
The story begins when Yuuta Asamura suddenly got a new step-sister after his dad remarries. Ayase Saki. With such a big change to both their lives, the story follows how they adapts into their new situations and all the emotions arising from deep within their hearts.
Studio Deen is never known for great animation qualities and Gimai Seikatsu is not an exception. I dislikes how they never draws characters'
...
faces when they're in the background even though most scenes are just with the 2 main characters, it's incredibly distracting and uneasy to look at. The animation is also just average and nothing really stands out. To be honest, I'm really sad that this studio somehow always get such good stories and butchers them with their bad work in animation. The soundtracks is pretty good though, really fitting with the scenes and evoke a lot of emotions, I like the ED song too.
Now on to the strengths, Days with my stepsister has a grounded cast. Asamura and Ayase have some of the most mellow characteristics I've seen in anime and I often enjoy characters like that. But even with their calm and collected manners, we still got to see their deepest worries, uncertainty and the pains they suffers while growing up. I especially love the insightful and heartfelt monologues they do sometimes, really relatable stuffs. The side characters are also funny, while seemingly flat but that doesn't really matter because 90% of the story revolves around the 2 main characters, this is their own world.
Overall, the story and characters are definitely its strongest points. Days with my stepsister is a great story about growing up and love. I think it's really underrated and deserve more love than most the generic anime coming out nowadays.

I'm genuinely surprised by the quality of this One Piece's special episode. The animation, and characters designs are all on point. Props to Toei Animation.
A refreshingly humane look at the wonderful world of One Piece, in this episode, you get to look at the 'normal' people that live there. What are their feelings and thoughts on the 'larger than life' Straw Hat? How to live in the world of super human when you're just everyday ordinary folks? Find out yourself since the special is only 25 mins long.
I would love a series out of this concept. I love One Piece and I welcome this
...
addition to one of the greatest shows of all time.
