You might have to be autistic to feel this way but I found this show intensely relatable. Struggling to speak up when you want to, figuring things out a bit later in life, overthinking every little thing, the frustration of yearning for a more normal life despite knowing the things that make you happy aren't exactly normal, and dealing with the fear of connection when it would mean exposing your true self. The show took the time to process all these worries, and also shared a much-needed uplifting message that relationships are still good and worthwhile despite everything that makes them hard.

Multiple moments felt so ...

Mixed Feelings
This is a show about the importance of talking about your feelings. Theoretically, characters putting effort into opening up is something a lot of us could learn from, and should be a step up from shows that revolve around dumb communication misunderstandings. But the characters take it to an unrealistic extreme by turning basically every single interaction into a heart to heart, crowding out everything else. We don't get to see much of the everyday lives that would actually endear us to the characters or help us feel for ourselves what they're feeling. It's telling instead of showing, so I'm disconnected from the feelings they're ...

This was a great watch and is everything I want from a CGDCT anime. It was consistently funny, very wholesome, and mildly educational. While I learned some about food culture I learned even more about university "circles" and what it's like to have that more laid-back club experience. Plus it was entertaining the whole way through.

Essentially it's cute girls goofing off, going places, and making food. A lot like Laid Back Camp. And while I won't claim it stands on its own quite as well as that legendary show, I really appreciated everything that went into this one. The writing from the Non Non Biyori ...

A standout season not only for the Uma Musume series but for sports anime in general. The story buildup throughout the season is fantastically done. And unlike some of the shorter spinoffs in the series this show gives us time with the characters to get emotionally invested, all while never dragging down the pace too much. Getting to experience the journey was incredible.

I particularly liked the more grounded art design. It's still unmistakably Uma Musume, but this time the cartoony vibes have been substituted for something with a bit more specificity, from the stronger sense of place in each location to the more realistic color ...

Mixed Feelings
A decently put-together show that unfortunately didn't have anything standout enough about it to make it all that enjoyable. The art style, voice direction, character interactions, and plot twists all never felt particularly inspired, so I struggled to find something to latch onto that would have gotten me engaged with the story.

If you want a stoic mc, Violet Evergarden does a much better job, and for a saint mc, The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent is a lot more interesting and genuine. Though it will still be a good enough time if you want something to watch just for fun.

It's this season of Sound! Euphonium that finally cements this show as not only a masterpiece but my #1 show of all time. I have been absolutely entranced by these wonderful characters, and the detailed work that went into telling their stories. Between the compelling character writing and acting, the gorgeous animation, the spot-on musical performances, and the many masterfully explored themes, I have been moved over and over again.

Now that the story has wrapped up, the structure of the whole story is clearer to see. Those in the know about the traditional kishotenketsu 4-act structure may recognize it here, with Season 1, Season 2, ...

This was a surprisingly fun take on the villainess show formula. It mixes it up by having players interact with the world instead of reincarnate into it, which initially gives the show some fun parody energy, and develops into some interesting dynamics later on. While it's not the deepest show around, the execution was pretty good. I laughed out loud many times, was surprised at the twists, and got invested in the romance.

The Japanese voice cast is pretty top-class too. Lots of iconic veterans here, putting in solid performances. The animation wasn't anything too special but they did more than the bare minimum so it ...

Gekai Elise (Anime) add
Mixed Feelings
As a fresh take on the villainess reincarnation trope, Doctor Elise started out promising. The medical drama aspect is fairly unique for anime, presenting a variety of detailed and somewhat intense medical procedures. The romance is engaging too, with plenty of time spent on the leads growing together naturally.

However, the confused time period of the setting really threw things off. Despite the rest of the setting being vaguely pre-industrial, the medical knowledge and technology is more advanced for some reason, kind of all over the place but usually something like 20th century. A show about an alternate medical history to our own would be fascinating, ...

Frieren doesn’t demand your attention in quite the same way as other masterpieces. The action, comedy, and heart-tugging you would expect are all there, but instead of relying on intensity to keep your focus, it’s understated in a way that means you have to actively choose to stay engaged. I’m really glad I made the effort, because as I did I kept getting more and more out of it.

The show leans into some familiar adventuring tropes and then consistently goes beyond them, creating something very different from the shallow, generic template it came from. For one, the story begins after the battle with the demon ...

This is isekai narrowed down to its pure essence—people losing their minds over food every few minutes. I thought it would get repetitive but somehow it was funny every time. I loved seeing what foods would come up, and in what over the top ways it would be impactful to the characters.

The focus here isn’t on deep plots or characters. Instead, it’s a great chill vibe that gets you to think about everyday life from different perspectives. Despite it meandering a bit, the different storylines intersect in some interesting ways. It pulled me in and was easy to binge my way through.

If you like ...
