When I first saw the trailers I dismissed it as trying too hard to be funny and parody a certain fantasy world. After I watched the first episode with some friends I was hooked. I have not laughed this hard since the first airing of an anime with SAERIOUS SIDEWAYS JUMPS. Never judge a book by its cover!

The character Mash could be fleshed out a bit more but he is a muscle head so that can't be helped. It's still early on but it seems like we know most of the side characters almost as much as Mash (currently at ep7)

I'll keep this review short and with as no spoilers (maybe one very minor one).

Fate/Stay night had a very interesting story line that progressively got more and more intense. As many of you know this series comes from an adaptation of the visual novel (VN) of Fate/Stay Night. Watching this series you will notice a decent amount of action, dramatic scenes, good comedic aspects and lot's of character development. When it come's to strong points I very much enjoyed the feeling of wondering what the character's will do and often was immersed into wanting more. A major aspect of the series is how after the ... first couple episodes you'll most likely hooked into watching the rest (believe me it is interesting!).

A weakness that many have pointed out was the fact that the anime adaptation was the fact that it is not a true representation of the VN. Going through the visual novel I have learned of answers that I had searched for that we're not present in the anime. For example in the anime adaptation there was no mention of why Sabre could not go into spirit form. The VN goes much more into detail, which is a slight problem but won't hinder the conclusion in my opinion.

I am somewhat new to watching lots of anime series so take this review with a grain of salt.
Final Word: I have watched the anime first over the VN and honestly I was hooked! It's basically making me a fan of the whole "Fate" series which means that this was a good Anime! I highly recommend watching Fate/Stay Night and maybe you'll also enjoy the series like I am! Going back to the VN to learn everything is fine with me since I really did enjoy it.
