Neon Genesis Evangelion is unenjoyable due to being extremely depressing.
Meanwhile, Mars of Destruction is so bad in all aspects that it may come as hilarious for regular viewers.

It is a very generic plot about female teenagers being made to fight with aliens, and the only male one is forced to wear a mecha suit by his father. Besides that, there are some plot twists for a story that wasn't shown in the 20 minutes of duration it lasts.

The animation itself is terrible for its time, being released in 2005 but looking like something made a decade before, at least. Most of the characters have ...

Second season makes clear that Jigokuraku has always been just another generic shounen.
- Main characters are sidelined to make room for twenty backstories for every secondary.
- Every character has only backstory and is one-dimensional.
- Full chapter flashbacks for characters about to die.
- The show constantly tells you that they are about to die, they are dying right now, but the end of the battle solves blood loss, being a punchcard, having your throat slit, and other similar trifles.
- Battle commentarists are useless. Do something else if the situation is so life-threatening.
- Everything is shown, explained, or hinted as being one thing, only for it to ...

It is a science-fiction action movie that takes itself seriously, getting by without the widespread abuse of 'comedic' cliques and self-aware characters. It is, in fact, an action movie, so don't expect the annoying shounen flamboyance.

The plot is straightforward, a conflict between self-preservation against self-sacrifice. The protagonist, the sister, the administrators, and the liberators have a tendency to protect themselves first, while the antagonist, the brother, the yakuza, and the vampires (mention Jami) give up their safety for what they consider more important. Of course, it is not an absolute pattern: for example, the protagonist decides to protect the sister at some point despite being ...

Mixed Feelings
Spoiler
·Art: good.

·Setting: the whole town and the people inside have become a timeless mirage after an explosion at the steel factory. This world is constantly breaking apart, while the smoke from the factory tries to mend its fissures. Beyond that, the people there continue to live almost normally.

·Story: somehow, a girl from reality enters the mirage. The workers at the steel factory keep her hidden for some reasons (not panicking the townsfolk for one, creating a cult for another, the usual stuff), but make a teenager girl (FemaleMC) take care of her.
FMC eventually gets a teenager boy (MaleMC) involved, who of course tries to ...

Before watching, please read the background section in the main page of the anime.

Resume: a bunch of emotionally unstable teenagers are forced to use alien-mechas (Evas) to fight aliens (Angels) to death by a bunch of emotionally unstable doomsday-government-cultists and it goes as well as one would expect.

These are my notes from when I watched the first 9 episodes:
//
-The MC is portrayed as shy, silent and reclusive due to his father's coldness. His rationalization is a behavior in response to neglect, based on detachment, observation and logic. It is not immediately destructive to the self nor to others, but it gradually erases emotional motivation. However, ...

Another generic anime. 'Cool' and 'uncaring' overpowered MC that was betrayed, 'Heroes', demon kings, magic, child soldi-I mean, goddesses, religion bad, and only one woman in 6 episodes.

World: ehh.
-A medieval military and religious organization fight against a demonic plague.
-Literal photosynthesis magic, storing mana in the body while under the sun. Otherwise magic logic is arbitrary.
-Worst criminals are used as slave labor and resurrected indefinitely. Resurrection causes memory loss.
-Goddesses are magic weapons with human form.

Story: NA.
-There is no story, because the MC is doing nothing and doesn't think.

This anime tries to embody a random hypothesis: "What if the ambient electromagnetic radiation on Earth could affect our brains and we could manipulate this phenomenon?"
As any idea, it could make for a good story if the author created a complete world where that hypothesis was true. Unfortunately, the context template used in this anime is our reality, so just inserting this idea forcefully does not qualify as literary work or art, specially if nothing of relevance is explained.

The pace is almost non-existent. In the first episodes the viewers can already tell that there are some "you can't tell the network and the real ...

Ergo Proxy (Anime) add
The first half is good and simple, with potential to have a meaningful end. Second half defenestrated the plot.

The dynamics between characters end up being shallow at best.

There is a gradual lack of motivation and emotion that makes the story boring.

At least 10 episodes of: "WTF is happening, oh it was a dream." Who thought this was a good idea?
I understand that not understanding may appear to be cool, but anyone with the gift of reason will tell you this is either a psychedelic trip, the ramblings of a madman, or the super-ego of an author who thinks they are writing a millennium masterpiece while ...

Excellent animation, alongside the originality of the story, makes Lord of the Mysteries better than most series. However, as a novel reader, some flaws become evident due to the process of adaptation.

Basically no world-building (context of Tingen City), lack of essential explanations (spirituality, rituals, Churches), and no time to assimilate the concepts that are explained.

Most fights scenes are saturated with too many effects and feel cluttered; these are not even battles between multiple powerful Beyonders yet. Some of the shown abilities are inconsistent (shounen-like speed) or not correct (Midnight Poet turning into a crimson shadow, Corpse Collector having ice abilities and being attacked by dead ...

Another shounen anime: characters with no personality, good guys don't die, bad guys aren't killed by the good guys, each episode is one fight, nonsensical battles, explaining the character's story just before they die, 4th wall commentator on the random powers, stretching moments ad infinitum, a bazillion characters, the whole world is Japan, general inconsistency, etc.

Some say the animation is good, and the scenarios and characters are indeed mostly* neatly drawn. But the cursed power being a simple flame shape that looks scratched by a kid is sad. Impact frames (randomly changing the colour of the frames with Paint) don't help every 10 second punch/explosion ...
