I recently got into the villainess genre, I think this one is my fav out of all the “villainess” anime I have watched, Like I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss, Tearmoon Empire, 7th Time Loop, My Next Life as a Villainess, Villainess Level 99, and I’ll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History.
the female lead is incredibly strong, kind. She’s not typical “villainess turned good” trope; her character feels genuinely human, with conviction and empathy that make you root for her every step of the way.
I also absolutely love the art style. It’s beautiful, expressive, and really enhances the tone of
...
the story, the supporting males look super nice too.
Another thing that makes this series so special is how the supporting characters actually matter. They don’t just fade into the background after their introduction, they grow, change, and play significant roles as the story goes on (especially if you continue into the light novel). Their personalities are so varied and well-written that it’s fascinating to see how each of them develops alongside the FL (at which the FL help them overcome issues/trauma).
They talk through misunderstandings, confront emotional issues, and support each other in a way that feels sincere and mature. You can clearly see character growth, not just for the FL but for those around her too.
(there are also some funny parts and the FL expressions super cute hehe)

Greatest love story of a century!
Under the Oak Tree is not simply a romance—it’s an achingly beautiful journey of self-discovery, love, and healing, wrapped in one of the most exquisitely illustrated manhwas you will ever lay eyes on.
From the very first chapter, the story sweeps you into the life of Maximillian Calypse, a young woman whose stutter and timid nature have been shaped by years of emotional neglect. Her marriage to Riftan Calypse, a stoic and fiercely protective knight, begins under strained circumstances, yet slowly blooms into something profoundly moving. Their relationship is not built on sudden passion alone—it grows through misunderstandings, vulnerability, and the
...
gradual weaving of trust. Watching Max learn to find her own voice, while Riftan learns to express the depth of his devotion, is nothing short of soul-stirring.
The supporting cast is equally rich and unforgettable. From the loyal knights of the Remdragon Order, each with their own quirks and histories (and ofc Mage Ruth!), to strong female companions who challenge and encourage Maxi, every side character feels alive—never just background, but threads in the tapestry of the world. They bring humour, camaraderie, and bittersweet moments that make the story feel lived-in and real.
The setting is breathtaking—a medieval fantasy world painted with meticulous care. The political tensions, guild rivalries, and the ever-present shadow of war give weight to the romance, reminding us that love often grows strongest in the face of hardship.
And the art—oh, the art! Each panel is a masterpiece. The artist’s use of light and texture makes emotions almost tangible: the glint of tears, the glow of a sunset over the battlements, the quiet intimacy of a hand reaching out. The detail in the clothing, armour, and landscapes shows a level of dedication that elevates the story beyond its written form.
What makes Under the Oak Tree so unforgettable is how deeply it resonates on an emotional level. It’s about love that is patient and steadfast, about learning that you are worthy of being cherished, and about two souls finding home in each other. By the time you turn the last page, you feel both full and aching, as though you’ve lived alongside these characters through every heartbeat, every triumph, and every tear.
In short: If you want a romance that will break your heart and piece it back together more beautifully than before—read Under the Oak Tree.
