Never going to forgive MAPPA for cancelling the movie. The producer, Hideo Katsumata cited irreconcilable creative differences as the reason. 8 years and that's the best excuse they could find. Pathetic. Any hope of season 2 died with that cancellation. The truly sad part of all this is that we supported Yuri On Ice in a time where MAPPA wasn't nearly as successful as it is today and this is the thanks we got. An insult to the love we have for the story, the characters and the wonder this anime brought to us. An insult to our dedication and our support as a fandom,
...
which didn't waver over the past decade as we were served date after date for a release that ultimately never came.
The animation in the trailers could move you to tears if you'd seen Yuri on Ice. Had it come to be, we would've been hard pressed for our little janky animation meme material screenshots. Every 5 years or so, I'll return to Yuri On Ice, to reminisce, to mourn. The first and only anime I watched where the dub was better than the sub. To Victor and Yuri, to Yurio and everyone else who breathed life into pixels on a screen, you will forever alive in our hearts. To the staff who gave birth to and nurtured them, thank you. And to MAPPA, f*ck you. If you had any respect for your viewers, you would've at least sold it or passed it off to another studio but you couldn't even do that so yeah, f*ck you.
