Warning: this is political / economy / military fantasy. And one of, if not best in that specific genre. If you like that genre, you'll love this one. If you hoped for anything else - sorry.

If you hope for proper romance, there's a lightweight thread of that on the sidelines (with a bit of harem added for bad measure), action / combat - only small amount. There is a proper drama of the characters involved, but it's not the main focus. Also, the show is an isekai albeit it never outright admits it. Think typical isekai protagonist keeping their earthly origin secret - here, it's ...

Watch episodes 1-7 then quit. These first 7 episodes is a fun, quirky anime with likeable characters, interesting challenges to overcome with wits and experience, the hero's role is "a competent manager". It's lightweight, humorous, and very enjoyable. 8/10

Then, starting ep 8, we're getting a completely different anime. The protagonist stops being smart, fun and competent, and suddenly turns into an edgy idiot with martyr complex. All the fun is swapped for cheap drama, all the smart decision-making is replaced with a massive and completely pointless battle because MC picked an enormous idiot ball. 3/10 and a lingering bad taste,

Animation, production quality, art - all ...

Go watch Eminence in Shadow. Then come back and watch this.

Without "Eminence" this will be one of stinkiest, insufferable wish-fulfillment edgelord harem isekai dumpster fires.

After "Eminence" this is one of the funniest anime you can watch. It's exactly the same thing except trying to take itself seriously, and so it hits even harder than best over-the-top jokes of "Eminence".

Seriously, watch it. It's so-bad-it's-good gold! Decent animation, nice style, and tropes so cliche, so pulpy you can't help chuckling, the characters so stereotypical, the plot points so edgy and predictable, the protagonist so overpowered, the dialogue so corny! Don't miss it!

"Eminence in shadow" but replace dark and edgy with sweet and mellow. Trashy, cheesy, steamy, light-hearted, earnest, a wonderful piece of lightweight 'guilty pleasure', shamelessly indulgent and surprisingly competently done.
Interesting variation of the 'ridiculously OP skill', the victories feel well earned, the protagonist is likeable, the indulgences are properly justified by lore, the girls know what they want and deliver with only token amounts of blushing and stammering, and protag-kun doesn't pretend it's anything else than it is.
In the "Overpowered protagonist with a harem" genre, this is my second-favorite (after Eminence in Shadow), and probably the most underrated show of the genre. Five golden dumpsters!

Preliminary (5/12 eps)
Unoriginal would be forgivable, but how LAZY it is, is not. First two episodes where Eins gets his powers are acceptable. I mean, not good, but not terrible either. After that, the show spends like 90% of time on praises and rewards, and totally skirts over earning them.

Before you commit, jump to 18:00 of episode 3, and watch the next 2 minutes. It's the most condensed representative pill of what this show becomes. 2 minutes flat since first sign of existence of a princess till she declares herself Eins' second wife. And out of these 2 minutes, it's 5 seconds across two panning stills to ...

Unhinged beginning, strong middle, drawn out ending, disappointing finale. First episodes, I thought it's as demented as FLCL or the deer girl, except sexually. Nope, it actually has a very strong story with a powerful plot twist, all the early shenanigans completely justified by solid lore. Too bad at the end the showrunners lacked the balls to give us a daring, solid, strong end, and instead went for pointless filler and teary "shouldn't have existed" and "It's better that way" melodrama.

It's much better than I thought it to be (actual solid story!) but not as good as it could be (chickened out about fully utilizing ...

Wait for season 2.

The themes opened so far would suffice for at least 4 completely different animes. Spice&Wolf meets Mushoku Tensei meets Saving 80,000 Gold meets Jujutsu Kaisen meets Sailor Moon. There's not nearly enough time and space to let any of them take shape and spread wings, it's not so much a cliffhanger, as a 12-episode teaser for an upcoming series.

It's an awesome anime but it doesn't have an end. It feels like it was aborted mid-season, mid story arc, with so many threads open and hardly any even moderately developed. A chekov gun hanged in ep 1 and reminded of every other episode, ...
