The characters are not enjoyable to watch besides Kurita who is a good guy: Mamori is overbearing, Hirumi is obnoxious, Sena is cowardly and indecisive. 145 episodes is way too long for what is actually on offer here, other even longer shonen series at least have powers, fun characters, intriguing plots. I'm not against sports anime, I just think it's better in a more consumable length with a cast of characters you actually want to watch. Think about it: nowadays sports anime start with a main character who is driven to be the best or achieve some goal. That might start to be the case

This is worse than Dark Cat and Skelter+Heaven; this is the work truly deserving of a sub-2. It is an absolute eyesore despite the designs looking quite nice: the rabbit aliens, Yuuri's gun, and Hanoka 7 herself are all well designed, but make the eyes bleed while in action. The story is very basic, perhaps not poorly done, but rushed through. The issue here is that they had a little more time than they gave themselves to pace this better: *half* of the run-time of each episode is the opening and the recap, if they trimmed down a 30 second version of the opening and

This discourse on this page is all screwed up thanks to Saban's practices of Frankenstein-ing together multiple shows/movies into one aberrant, if harmless, corpse of a project; some people are talking about the 2000 compilation film, while others are talking about the 20 minute 1999 short film which this page actually seems to be for. The latter is the one I watched, and it was decent. In fact, it was better than the series that came after which really felt like a soulless kid's action show devoid of character or heart (except for episode 3). That was not an issue with the 1999 short film,

This was fun, precious, and well-paced. I can see why this was picked up for a full series. This is so good that it makes the first two chapters of the serialized version, which retell this pilot, look worse in comparison. I absolutely recommend this to anyone into MTG, or who want to read a card game/strategy game manga that has an emphasis on rom-com. I like that both the characters are tsundere at each other, it's a nice change of pace to see the male protagonist act emotionally immature when that's often a trait pushed onto the female love interest: I'm not suggesting this

It's pretty clear to me after having seen this OVA series that the other two negative reviews are only based on the content of the 1st episode, the beach episode, in complete bad faith because that is the *only* episode with the characters in 'underclothes' otherwise known as their swimsuits (and the spider devil with nipple-less breasts, but that didn't make me clutch my pearls either.) The other 3 episodes have no content which could even be mistaken for sexual aside from the implied nudity, covered by light and/or ribbons, in the transformations which is very typical of magical girl transformations with teenage or older

As others have stated, it is very slow to progress despite being made up of half-length episodes. The quick moment to moment pacing makes up for most of the content of each episode being discourse about Neo Ranga, current events, or interpersonal nonsense with little progression in regards to the wider world/story. The main issue is the frustration that comes with watching the ineffectiveness of every character. The only character interested in challenging the status quo, which we are told time and time again takes place in this cynical and corrupt world, is Yuuhi who is too young and disaffected to be a discerning mind
