Having just finished "The Summer you Were There," I largely came away thinking that it was kinda a generic mediocre melodramatic manga that is meant to tug at heartstrings with some yuri sprinkled in. Unforunately, a large part of the manga did not tug at my heartstrings but it clearly did for many people hence the high rating here. What turned me off a lot was the root cause for the sadness and conflict of the main character's life, an elementary school conflict where she bullies Ruri and then gets isolated as a result of it. conflict to cause such a large effect on the main character life where she goes from an outgoing girl to a depressed social recluse. This kinda killed my immersion and enjoyment in the story because everytime Shizuku just starts her self-loathing I just think what caused this and it kills my enjoyment, it's not to say the reasoning behind her depression isn't realistic, it's just kinda crazy that something like this can cause such a huge conflict.
Anyways the story was pretty generic and very predictable, you always knew what was happening or what the characters were thinking, extremely transparent story, but I don't necessary think that's a bad thing as long as a story is well-executed. So was this story well-executed for me? Wellll I thought all the characters were pretty realistic and what they did in the story made sense. Kaori for one I understand and empathize with her a lot, a person that is depressed and especially if they're about to die may resort to finding happiness in others peoples happiness hence why she has a little bit or a lot a bit of a savior-complex. I really did like Kaori and as for the other characters, I suppose their actions made sense too, but a complaint I do have is they felt very shallow. Sure we did dig into their motivations but it largely felt the author was laying out kinda a chart like for Ruri it was like Bullied by Shizuku -> trausmatised -> very kind character -> forgives Shizuku and wants to start over. It felt very shallow or one-dimensional but it was realistic don't get me wrong and it seemed like many of the side characters are there to devlop Shizuku as a character or to react to her being like "Wow she sure has changed a lot." Shizuku I also found kinda just generic or boring. I understand she is a very depressed character but it really did feel the author went online and googled what does a depressed think or do and just implemented that into Shizuku's character. It really felt like the author just scratched the surface level of depression going with I hurt people -> i'm a horrible person and don't deserve any happiness, he never really explored much beyond that.
I did find the ending very well executed actually and it make me feel sad, I liked the relationship between Shizuku and Kaori and how hard Kaori tried to make everyone happy, it was heartwarming. But a large part of the manga I felt was very boring and generic for me. So I would sum this manga up as a very basic manga but with a good ending. I wouldn't recommend this but I wouldn't say it was terrible, just mediocre.

Watched this movie yesterday in the theaters. I was sad that it was showed in dub though having heard a lot of great things about the sub but the dub was still very good imo. Anyways I would say the strongest feature of the movie would have to be the visuals + art. Wow was it so stunning and beautiful and it really does well to stir emotions within you and leave you breathtaken. Especially the scenes with the comets... it was just so beautiful.
Besides the art, I really loved the concept of the body swapping and actually liked how the movie was structured.

I have seen online that some people disliked the structuring the movie and found it confusing or not well done but personally, I did enjoy the weirdness of the timelines coming together and drifting apart and the mystery behind the body swapping. The characters themselves I have to say were definitely the weakest part of the movie though. Sometimes I questioned the motivations of the main characters themselves, Taki and Mitsua, and wondered if there was enough of substance behind what they are doing but I suppose if your life is empty and one day you found something that gave you joy, you would do your best to cling onto it or seek it out especially if you are an adolescent. The side characters themselves I actually kinda found shallow in a sense, it felt like they were there just to provide comedic relief or assist the main characters and we never really explore their motivations, lifestyles, or personalities leaving them kinda soulless.
Overall though, I enjoyed the movie so so much. I felt the director really did well in evoking emotions in the audience. The scenes where I felt you were expected to cry, I cried. The art left me stunned and in awe. I understand that this movie incorporated many cliches and sometimes had inconsistencies in logic and maybe the characters weren't developed the best, but I simply did not care. I understand that this movie was probably made for teenagers and being one, i might be a bit biased in my rating but who cares. This movie I found incredibly beautiful and stirred up so many emotions within me. I loved the characters Taki and Mitsua and I would recommend this move to anyone, especially teenagers.

The manhwa follows 4 storylines: one involving Jinu in the military, one with the gangster, one with Jinu's friends, and another involving the government. The main focal point of the story does seem to be on Jinu himself and his friends while the other plotlines are just side stories. Jinu's storyline is my favorite in the manhwa showing how the government utilizes the common soldiers for their own personal goals and I feel it's done quite realistically showing how a soldier would think and react knowing they were just fodder for someone's goals or greed. group of civilians would survive in a zombie apocalypse without the help of the government. Unfortunately I do find this plotline rather dull and quite infuriating due to one certain character in the group but even then, it just involves a bunch of hack and slash and finding supplies, really not moving the plot along in drastic ways and being one of the main storylines, take up a lot of chapters. The side stories are quite cool imo, especially the gangster. I initially thought he was going to be the main character as he was shown a lot in the beginning but the author kinda edges you giving you a chapter with him and the moving off of him for 50 chapters, he barely has any screentime in the manhwa which is quite disappointing for me as I am a sucker for cool characters and would like to know more about him. The beginning of the manhwa is filled with a lot of questionable decisions and irrational thoughts from the characters which would be quite offputting for a lot of people and one of the main storylines is not the best so I would recommend this manhwa only to one that loves zombie stuff.

Before starting Evangelion, I recieved the impression that this show would potentially change my life and put my mind through a blender. And I would have to say it did sucessfully deep fry my brain. It did take me quite a bit of time to slog through the first half of the show, having had to watch it multiple times as I kept putting the show down. Now looking back, I have a newfound appreciation for it, despite acknowledging it as weaker as the later half of the show, because it lowkey had jokes here and there that would make me laugh and Misato, Asuka,

Shinji, and others were able to eat together and have fun which contrasts drastically with the later half. The second half of the show was quite something and would really stood out to me the most was the characters and their motivations. Asuka Langley Soryu was one of my favorite characters mainly because behind her mask of bravado, was a girl who was deeply hurt and abadoned by her mom who commited suicide right in front of her, so she puts on this mask as a way to protect herself and pilots her Eva as that was she's useful for and if she's useful, she won't ever be adandoned again. In a classic shounen, perhaps one would expect them to overcome these warped emotions but no, she falls deeper and deeper into depression, lashing out at the people who cares for her and eventually is rendered useless and unable to pilot an eva. I love this. It's such a realistic depiction of depression, sometimes it doesn't get better, sometimes in order to find happiness, one has to look into themselves and not others for happiness. I can go on and on about the characters and their issues but i'm sure google can explain it better. Anyways the last two episodes were quite hmmmmmm.... I would say really confusing and psychologically focused. I still found it quite impactful, but nevertheless, it was still kinda disappointing to end the series that way and I am very thankful that End of Evangelion was made. I won't pretend to understand Evangelion, it's a grand piece of work with many confusing caveats to it that I still don't understand. There are its flaws but it's an amazing work of art that I would highly recommend watching.

Beautiful ass film. I loved everything about this work from the art, the characters, the plot, so many great things.
This was my first Ghibli film so I didn't know what to expect but with the oepning shot, I was just blown away by how amazing the art was. Not a single second of the film was there anything lazy about the art and the character designs of Totoro was just so cute.
The relationship of the family was very heartwarming and especially between the sisters even when they got into conflict, everything just felt so warm and real. I loved how the movie explored

the minds and innocence of children and how that innocence comes up with a magical reality with things like Totoro or the Catbus. I would love to watch this again and would highly recommend this film!!!

Ichi the Killer was made from the same author as Homunculus so I picked up the manga expecting something similar to it. Well I suppose it was kinda similar except there was a lot less of the psychological aspect to it and was more gruesome violent things. This manga is filled with so much degenerate stuff such as torture (so much!), rape, people getting killed in the most gruesome ways, and wow the women are just treated like crap in this manga. This manga is probably filled with the most degenerate disgusting stuff I have ever read and I repeat this and emphasize this STRONGLY.

Despite that, it was also an entertaining read as you always wondered what was happening, the mysteirousness of Jiji, the dynamic between Kakihara and Ichi, and the motives of the character and even towards the end, the motives of them are still ambigious. Overall, this manga was one where I had mixed feelings on despite having enjoyed the read. Anyways I don't think I would ever recommend this manga to someone UNLESS they were a gore enjoyer or just a degenerate pervert.

Wow. This work was an absolute masterpiece and I highly regret not having read it years ago. Having just finished the story, my mind is still a wreck from this but I will attempt to convey everything I thought about it.
This webtoon or manhwa takes place in a post-apocalytic world and what a world it is. This world is extremely depressing and offers little to no happiness, but I find it extremely beautiful that despite this absololute tragedy of a world, the characters still attempt to find the brightness in it and as they're still alive and have each other, then they must prevail despite

everything seeming meaningless because even if they find a sliver of brightness, then perhaps it's okay? This part of the manhwa really stuck with me as I didn't understand how the characters could keep going despite everything that has happened. I personally would have just ended it.
The art in this work was simply immaculately and so so beautiful. This work had little words in it but it didn't need to as the art conveyed everything. The use of colors was so amazing and brought chills down my spine.
The themes, the art, the characters, everything was amazing. There are little manhwas I would describe as a true masterpiece but this is definitely one of them. As a person who loves tragedys and psychological things, I would highly recommend this.

I decided to reread this manga for some odd reason and i'm glad I did. This manga is a slice of life but it stands out from the others in its genre imo simply due to its display of human relations. I loved the character development of many of the side characters and the rather lack of development from the main cast. The deadpan humor is amazing and the ending of the manga imo is beautiful and fits the character of Yugami-Kun. As someone who doesn't typically like slice of life, I highly recommend. Also the art is very cute
