Seven genius high schoolers get isekai'd into a new world. A brutalist world and to pay back the kind people who saved them. They have to institute reforms and that spirals up and up.
I liked the story. I think the manga does a good job with such a massive main cast. That said of the seven prodigies I'd say over half are utilized but not all. We have a soldier, a doctor, a magician, an inventor, a merchant, a politician, and a ninja. Alone any one of them would be interesting. Parallel World Pharmacy, Dr. Stone, they all do the same thing but focus
...
on one type. But Akatsuki for instance doesn't really do much. Using him as the basis of religion is interesting but aside from making change palatable there's nothing there. He could have been an expert in history and myth as part of his skillset and known how to use religious mythos to engender the types of chances they want. Instead they use him to float.
In another isekai Merchant would be amazing to watch. Heck there's probably other isekais with smart financiers. Depending on your feelings bout fanservice. The explicit content here is rather surprising. Because it never seems to be coherant. just randomly every volume it's bathtime then back to the main story. It's distracting imo.
It's a shame it got stopped early. In spite of the few issues it's was overall interesting.

MALs search engine is so bad that searching for "The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest" ended with this as a second result. I clicked by accident and the premise and title were somewhat interesting. The key reviews weren't awful. I was interested in something that went the ecchi route without going overboard.
In a way it lives up to that. For a horny male power-fantasy. It manages not to be completely brain dead. The premise is solid. You can blink past some of the, and I'm not sure this word captures it exactly but, exaggerated designs. For the genre I've seen worse. The plot is
...
a little too happy for force the winner and loser into bed. It's already extreme to make it mandatory. It's kinda weird to enforce mandatory copulation with drugs. There's not even a population lack or anything to make it make sense. It's like saying a winning football team gets free Gatorade and to ensure that they drink it the winning team is force to be equipped with a feeding tube. It's not like any character MC included shows any amount of restraint or resistance to doing their 'obligation' regardless of the feelings of the losing fighter. The drug is just weirdly excessive.
Ultimate what took me out was the loli character. I'm not a fan of them generally. And having one here in this genre was rough. But I could skip past most of her extra scenes. But what cinched it for me was in chapter 28 this loli character throws a tantrum at being assessed as one of the weaker fighters. And a very child-like tantrum at that. This is a character who has been a sexual target. I couldn't fake the funk anymore. I'm out. I still don't even know if they're supposed to--- you know what nevermind it doesn't even matter. Dead to me is dead to me.
This is stronger and more restrained than other entries in this genre. But it's not so strong to overcome the inclusion of a loli.

It's a shame I thought this might have potential to be a cut above the rest. I figured with 21 available volumes maybe there's something special. But nine volumes (26 ch) in and I'm convinced it is really not.
In another world I would be experiencing flashback from the end of Greatest Estate Developer. But something about ComicK dying just killed that ending. It's still one of the greatest emotional highs I've ever read but I'm weirdly not overly set on it when looking at new stuff. But when it comes to Isekai Life honestly it just doesn't do anything great as much as it
...
doesn't fall into Isekai pitstops.
Our hero Yugi is overpowered. But he at least puts in the literal bare bare minimum amount of afford when stymied. He has to think of new spells. Now he doesn't struggle to think of new spells and his new spells always do what he wants and more but still that's something. not much but something. There's no harem but the hero is beloved in every town he passes through. He's ignorant of how powerful he is even though everyone keep s reacting with random shock faces but eventually he kinda get over it and decides to pretend his slimes are doing the impressive magic. He learned to lie about how overpowered he is. That's progress. But then he's talking to ancient creatures from the origins of time and they're like "how do you have so much power" and he's back again like "It's just normal".
It's so middle of the road I'd be upset if it didn't have such a middling name and such a middling description. I don't really recommend it to anyone. It's not even cozy like Parallel World Pharmacy or Arrow to the Knee or any number of even slightly better manga. That said it's not super cringe. Fanservice is low actually nonexistence. The power scaling is JUST on the inside of frustrating. It's fodder RIPE for bettering. It's so boring you just beg for it to be surprisingly good. The slimes are fun but they don't have personality really even though it kinda hints towards it at times. How much more interesting would it be if slimes some of them got names and they got traits and personalities. Heck it would have given a whole new arc to the pet armor arc. The cowardly wolf is annoying but never so annoying you want to throw down the metaphorical book. JUST shy of it. And then just when you think the wolf is developing. They take it away. There's only so many ways to call it merely average.

An utterly delightful entry in the Lady revenge genre which is apparently a thing. As is typical of the genre. Our Lady is engaged to royalty who snubs her and cancels the engagement choosing some random waif as a replacement while lying about how she was actually the evil/abusive one.
It's a premise i've seen three times now and it hasn't lost an ounce of shine. What differentiates this from the rest of the pack is the commitment to violence. Becoming an economic powerhouse being trained in physical defense and magically gifted is par for the course but Ellie the main character engages in brutality with
...
zero hesitation. I expected her to use her power and influence to turn her enemies to her side but she actually offers no forgiveness to basically anyone. Poor farmers who turned to brigandry, soldiers who were lied to, nobles who were forced to act. It seems it not matter to our protagonist she will get violent revenge on all of them slicing and dicing them up with swords and magic equally.
It feels somewhat cruel at times to slaughter a man who is begging for your forgiveness and offering to work for you to make up for what he's done. But with the barest of justification she goes for it. Thirty chapters in is enough to get a VERY solid foothold on the tone of the series but not it's direction. It's unclear if there's any limit to who Ellie will kill in the name of revenge. There are a few who seem like they didn't buy in but are still working for the kingdom will she kill them for working with those who threw her out? Who knows. In exile she has become a master merchant and how big will her corporation actually get? She's clearly training her young disciples to take places high up in the organization she's expanding. But will she take over the empire she's swearing to benefit to enact death to the entire kingdom she swore vengeance against? It's unclear But the ride so far is engaging.

Reading this was like a fugue. I don't mind basic fantasy stories but this wasn't basic it was ... the other b word, Boring. The rise of Isekai has brought a lot of heroes who don't need to try and ironically this was one of the worst offenders because for a character whose major trait is that if he works hard enough he can imitate the skills other people are born with. He does precious little working hard. It was there in the beginning but afterwards ever since his first arc of leaving home he doesn't try to learn things. He just conceptualizes
...
it and then he can do it. And the worst trait of all is that he never fails. I think a few times he "tried something he had been working on" off screen of course and it works the one time we see him try it. But all the way through. I don't think this even makes a good Fisher-Price My First OP MC Manga.
What interest this DID have was over after the marriage. Everything after that is less than boring. The "hunt". The "demonic city defense" and the "infestation" all did nothing interesting. Less so because of the new drag-on characters. Imagine you're a teenager and you meet the love of your life. That's a great story. Heck arguably that's the story of Boy Meets World. Imagine you're a teenager and you find if you work hard enough you can do anything. Still interesting. This somehow combines all that and more and sucks any joy out of it. What you gain in the zero hesitation marriage proposal you lose in any kind of chemistry building. What you gain in a character who becomes super cool you lose in all ounce of character motivation. It's so bad even the MC comments on it at one point. Noting that since he's mastered all the skills of this genre and is able to defeat his teacher. He thought his life was over with nothing to work towards. But alas he discovers a new set of skills. Don't worry he goes through the exact same speed cycle only faster. Alas he decides to pick up a new skill. And rushes through that like he's on crack cocaine. After that breakneck pace We don't even know why he choose the third arc. Because he doesn't even really use those skills again.
The art is serviceable. The character designs are fine i guess. But nothing about this stands out. Not the pacing. Not the characters. Not the world. Not the system. Maybe the brothercon that kinda stands out in a frustrating way. This is bottom basement manga. Read what you can in one sitting and then walk away and never look back. However far you get. It's not worth coming back to.

Maybe the bar is really low and it's likely I am overrating it by 1-1.5 points. But nine episodes in, Silent Witch succeeds mostly by failing to fail. Which is a fancy way of saying it's a standard fantasy anime with an extreme minimization of the annoying aspects of what we get served as typical fantasy anime. As an isekai-like an overpowered main character is nothing new though I don't see enough of them be female but here we have a character who developed her overpower status. Which is fantastic. It's so novel and well done the shy main character you have to pull into
...
friendships by her teeth trope kinda doesn't bother.
The side characters aren't exactly flat but they don't get enough writing and screen time to really stand out. It feels like there's a nice amount of depth there we just don't get to see it. Especially the faux bully. Nine episodes in I still want more of her.
The animation is excellent but the nature of the story is less about awe-inspiring action scenes and closer to slice of life school drama. It's serviceable. Everything works better than you've come to expect after reading the description and thinking "ugh yet another overpowered magic main characters". Monica's struggle with shyness/social anxiety is charming enough to be worth the watch. If you're a fan of this genre and wish someone would do it right, then it's clear someone has answered your prayers.

Interesting. Clearly an ancestor to "Itsudemo Jitaku ni Kaereru Ore wa, Isekai de Gyoushounin wo Hajimemashita". It's my enjoyment of that other world peddler that lead me to pick this up. It does lot of things interestingly. The art is excellent. The pacing is mostly fine.
The real failings are the character designs and the side characters. I really do want to read more female isekais but all the ones that are meeting my requirements do the _lean to loli_. A flat chested character that looks 12 and is treated like they're 10 even though they're 18-22. And at least 10% of the jokes
...
in the first 20 chapters will be about how they wish they weren't so literally flatchested. It's a real needler not even because I care most of the time. At least it's not the mysterious egg that hatches into a girl and two months later is a full grown woman with the mind of a 2 year old. Or the 200 year old witch with the body of a 7 year old. But it gets annoying to read over and over again how the main character wishes they had boobs like LITERALLY EVERY OTHER CHARACTER IN THE SERIES.
That out of the way again the art is fun. The premise is compelling. Problem is the actual narrative both sidesteps problems and creates problems. Mitsuha our plucky heroine will both decide not to bring certain objects from Japan to the other world so as not to upset the balance and because it would make things "less fun" and then later one will ignore that advice. When it's to save the kingdom from the horrors of mercantilism it makes sense. When it's to have a boss party that leads to everyone hounding for those supplies it makes less sense.
This both strikes out at new territory while also being too safe to be meaty. It's just reductive in a way that something like "Isekai de Cheat Skill wo Te ni Shita Ore wa, Genjitsu Sekai wo mo Musou Suru: Level Up wa Jinsei wo Kaeta" or "Itsudemo Jitaku ni Kaereru Ore wa, Isekai de Gyoushounin wo Hajimemashita" or "Level 1 dakedo Unique Skill de Saikyou desu" isn't. It's close to "Slime Taoshite 300-nen, Shiranai Uchi ni Level Max ni Nattemashita" with guns. So you end up with something that on paper is different. Looks great. doesn't really struggle or limp along more than a bad chapter or 2 maybe 3 before getting back on track. But in spite of the fact that the main character understands every military strategy that comes up, and at one point there's an arc where they bring an entire American PMC to attack a 200 year old dragon. It feels less like you're watching something cool happen and a little like a military soap opera. It's not bad at all it's just not great.

At 127 chapter in I wouldn't say this is the greatest manhwa I've ever read or even read this year. But it's one of the most legit funniest things I've read since.... maybe Return of the Mount Hua Sect and even that isn't really funny so much as it has funny moments.
The humor here is "next level" but not in the Gen X way most people mean. It's not taking humor to a place that's never been seen before. It's just doing humor different from any other story. It's not just a funny scene or a funny situation. The humor is based in the
...
characters identity and relationships. It's fully embedded in the story. I would often find myself literally laughing multiple times per chapter when the humor was going thick.
The story isn't *that* special and the MC *does* have OP/Convenient powers. He's a civil engineer and he's using modern blueprints in a medieval setting. That's the main draw. It's not a crazy new Isekai. The Isekai aspects are standard. Bog standard. He has a pop up window system. The popup window is snarky and responds to him (sometimes). But part of what really makes the series fun are the jokes that aren't just putting X in A but the embedded jokes that get tapped again and again. The MC is Lloyd the black sheep son of a family in debt. In the novel they're sourced from they die except for a single body guard Javier who goes on to be the main protagonist of the story.
One of the recurring jokes is that Lloyd as a throwaway trashman character. His visage and countenance are ugly. He's a hideous man to look at. So when our Isekai hero jumps into his body he has to keep up that behaviour because people don't trust him when he's being sincere. And throughout the story they never stop seeing him as ugly unlike say the FMC in "Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmom". This leads to two types of jokes. The first is that people don't see Lloyd as nobility and they will sometimes assume he's the servant and Javier is the nobleman. It's great. Sometimes this is used to hilarious effect like when he has to speed date some rishtas. The B-side of this joke is that as he develops trust and friendship with Javier. They banter over how ugly Lloyd is which can be things from laughing when the former jokes happen to mocking him with Javier citing his TrueBeauty™ being unaffected by things like still being beautiful after a mudslide or taking 5g force and still looking good. The art likewise does the same thing give some Lloyd some great faces as he leans into his ugly visage. Turning it on to make deals while also unintentionally revealing his greed.
As an Isekai story about developing land. I'd give this maybe a C+. It's not bad at it. There is some land development but contrary to some other reviews I don't understand what fun 200 chapters of land development would be for in the first place. There is distraction. There are other aspects. There's a little gay fanservice. I can feel the fans shipping Javier and Lloyd. So far there's not a lot of romance. There's some great fights and interesting ideas. But this is a manhwa you can read and laugh at and that's just so rare.

A shocky gore manga filled with dark themes, rape, torture, violence, murder and wait for it…necrophilia depending on how you do the math. At least the male mc isn't a rapist.
The protagonist Satoru Anezaki is a 16-year-old who gets executed after he castrates and kills 15 men. These men were sex offenders who raped and killed his childhood friend Yuma, the only girl who treated him normal even though he has an over 200 IQ. Don't get too excited this is the first and only time his IQ will matter or be demonstrated aside from people saying it. After he is hanged he finds himself
...
in a parallel world at his school where the sun has turned men into feral beasts that hunt women. Hold your "Oh that's subtle"s for the end. Satoru learns that his friend was never assaulted and killed in this world. So the few girls at the school after they get over the shock of a sane man, go through all the apocalyptic phases you know random fighting, hating the one sane man, begging to cling to him. Eventually the MC and a few ladies set off in pursuit of Yuma, may she be alive and well. It's an illogical plot point but it's nothing new to the zombie/apocalypse narrative but from the east and the west. They meet different packets of "safety" and the cycle goes kinda like this. Satoru gets injured and while he's healing the women try to join the local women only to find out their version of society is horrific in some manner. Maybe all the pregnant women are bearing boy children that turn out to be monsters. Maybe there's slavery. Maybe the sane men are slowly going feral.
Visually there's enough contrast which is my biggest annoyance with these violent grimdark reads. Some of them just throw blood and night all over the place till you can't make anything out. That isn't the problem here. It's serviceable. There is nudity and gore but to my recollection it never felt any more gratuitous than the base concept. The characters designs are fine. Nothing you'd cringe to show someone (this isn't "Reincarnated as a 7th Prince" or "OP at Level 1").
Narratively.. and this is going to sound stupid and obvious but I wasn't expecting it to get so political. It's not… _well_ thought out. A lot of the story comes down to female incompetence. Women can't understand rations. Women can't do electrical work. Women can't really fight off the feral men in an organized manner. Women just cower and wait. Unfortunately there's not a lot of exceptions to this. It's just some are more successful in their cowering and some have different plans for waiting. For all the talk about how men mistreated women "in the before times" aside from doing some necrolove to tied up feral men and then killing them afterwards there's not a lot of women standing up in the times of trouble. We "hear" of a military women but it would have been nice to see a few.
The pacing is alright and while it is a bit repetitive it's also too short for that to become annoying. And some of the characters are interesting like Makino who admits she has lost her humanity but fakes it not to make it but just to stay close to Satoru in order to return to his world whenever he eventually goes back.
24 chapters in I think we're rounding up to a dark ending. Maybe I'll be fussed to track down the rest of the chapters but probably not.

This one is about an unclassed adventurer who wants to make it. He gets kicked out a super party because he's an "Odd-Jobber" aka Unclassed. Classes work on an apprenticeship level and since he is too old for that he's "cursed", a social pariah. But he's VERY good at the odd jobs and when he leaves the party. The party's familiars show more loyalty for him than with their tamer.
So behinds Lore's adventures in solodom. Lore isn't anything too special characterwise. A typical doesn't know his own strength and yet not so OP as to be silly like "I'm an Alchemist Who Doesn't Know How
...
OP I Am" or "The Ultimate Healer Restores All". It's not 100% blind to his power. It's more like because of his strength he feel comfortable doing things like giving away high level potions for scrapes etc etc.
There's no real noteworthy side characters. The most developed would have the be the familiars themselves a Griffin and two Wolves. All legendary beasts who end up giving Lore a portion of their power. But Lore doesn't want to class as a Tamer and so he continues trying to be an adventurer.
The pacing is very relaxed. I'm 50 chapters in and I think we're only just now getting some action. Lore is only now getting some hands on experience.
Overall I say it's perfectly fine if you want to read something without any real stakes. A well earned five. A great recommendation if you have your expectations measured. This isn't going for "Big 3". It's not going to be the hidden gem that blows you away. But it's not going to be "yet another Isekai/Isekai-like" so much that it gives you a toothache. It can be fun. Especially if you are bingeing it.
