I honestly started this show thinking it was going to be just 6/10. The animation looks cheap — very plain, almost like a mid-budget romcom — and the early plot felt wildly unrealistic. Episodes 1–9 were mostly “meh”: the idea that a cute, sweet guy would suddenly fall in love with a plainly drawn, socially awkward, unpopular girl felt like pure wish fulfilment.

Then the last three episodes happened… and my rating jumped to about 9/10.

Why my view changed:
1) At first I was annoyed by how idealised the romance felt. But as the show went on, it became clear that Tabata (the heroine) knows she’s unattractive. ... The story never tries to pretend otherwise or secretly glam her up. The art stays consistent — she’s genuinely plainer and slightly chubbier than everyone else, unlike so many anime where “ugly” just means thicker eyebrows or glasses.

Her internal monologue about feeling inferior felt sympathetic – the show didn’t sugarcoat the social experience of being “less attractive”, and that’s something anime rarely does well.

2) I ended up loving Uguisudani. She’s trying so hard to get the boy’s attention, her confession near the end was touching, and her evolving dynamic with Tabata was great — rivals at first, but it slowly softens into something like respect and reluctant friendship. She can’t bring herself to truly hate Tabata.

3) The male MC is still a bit plot-conveniently sweet and forgiving, but he’s written kindly enough that I could buy it by the end. It felt less like “perfect boy falls for ugly girl” and more like “sweet guy sees something genuine and sticks with it.”

Episodes 1–9 feel like a 6/10: cheap production, slow, and kind of unbelievable. But episodes 10–12 are a solid 9/10: emotional, sincere, and surprisingly well-executed. Mathematically that’s around 6.8/10, but because the ending recontextualises a lot and leaves such a warm, human impression, I’d personally round it up to 7 or even 7.5/10.

Summer Hikaru Dies – my rollercoaster of feelings 🌞💀

Episodes 1–3 had me thinking this was a solid 10/10 – the start is so haunting and beautiful that I was completely hooked. But as I kept watching… my score slowly slipped down to around 7/8.

It’s not bad at all – there are genuinely moving moments that almost make you cry and remind you why you started watching. But then there are stretches that feel a bit draggy and slow. (I kind of expected that after reading reviews of the manga – people did warn it can feel a bit meandering.)

Some scenes really hit; others feel like ... they just… drift. It’s this mix of “wow that’s gorgeous and emotional” and “hmm okay can we move on now?”

Overall, I’d say about a 7.5/10

Soooo I went to watch this because I’m catching the Chainsaw Man movie tomorrow 👀✨

And OMG… this compilation is SO GOOD. Like, shockingly good. This is coming from someone who actually sat through Season 1 weekly, episode by episode, and only gave it a 6/10. But this cut? Solid 9/10. Same content, but the way it’s re-edited totally changed the vibe.

I realised why it worked so much better for me:

(1) No more patience-killing filler
The weekly run was about five hours, and honestly some parts felt like “why am I watching this random nothingness??”. This new cut trims it down to roughly three hours – everything ... is tighter, snappier, and there’s no “ugh get on with it” drag. I was actually glued to the screen.

(2) Makima finally feels terrifyingly sexy (in the best way)
With all the fluff gone, her eerie charm really shines. She’s beautiful, yes, but there’s this cold, unsettling power underneath that hits SO differently when the pacing doesn’t break her scenes. My brain went: “Oh no… she’s hot, but also I should run.”

(3) Expectations – already accepted the bad, so I could just enjoy the good
First time watching weekly, I expected clever fight logic… and kept getting disappointed. This time I already knew the fights aren’t about tactical genius – so I just enjoyed the vibes, the shock, the gore, the weirdness. And wow, without waiting for something that would never show up, it suddenly clicked and felt amazing.

Overall, it felt like rediscovering Chainsaw Man in the best way – creepy, stylish, chaotic, and way more satisfying than I remembered.

OMG I can’t wait for the movie… but hey, keeping my expectations low – remember point (3): expect no fight logic, keep the bar low, and hopefully there would be a high return.

Takopi’s Original Sin – Review

One of the best unexpected anime i've seen – no contest. But also… the mixed feelings I got towards the last episodes are real.

Episode 1 hit me like a truck. Shock of shocks. I literally had to rewatch it immediately – and that became the case for almost every episode. Each one left me stunned, then right back pressing play again. It’s that gripping.

In between, yes, the art style did get rougher – but it never stopped being beautiful in its own way. That rawness matched the story’s descent perfectly: messy emotions deserve messy lines.

BUT THE LAST EPISODE??? Takopi, my poor little ... baby. Such a sweetheart, so pure, just wanting to cheer others up. And then the girl… god. If she had used half the strength she spent bullying Takopi to fight back against her school bullies, no one would dare touch her. But no – she only knew how to bully the one who actually cared. Watching her stomp and then smash a stone at Takopi sent me into pure rage. Where was that fight when she was the one getting picked on? Hypocritical. Cruel. Any sympathy I had for her as a protagonist evaporated right there. She deserved what came in the second loop.

9/10 – painful, messy, gorgeous. Every episode twice over, and I’d still cry the same. 🐙💔

Tougen Anki – First Impressions Review

Okay, let’s get this out of the way: Tougen Anki is the definition of cliché … and I am living for it. 😂

Episode 1 had me rolling my eyes – tragic dad sacrifice, hidden bloodline awakening, loud/edgy boy… I honestly thought I’d drop it right there.

But then came Episode 2. Damn. Suddenly the energy picked up. Shiki’s rage-out transformation wasn’t just edgy for the sake of edgy – it hit. Shiki clashing with Mudano, and later Episode 3 with Kougasaki – these are where it clicked for me.

The common thread between all of them is this: yes, the show can ... be loud and dramatic, but the action feels intentional. Compare that to what I don’t like: some anime (again… not naming names 👀) go full BANG BANG BOOM for ten minutes straight, then fourteen explosions later a surprise power-up just falls out of the sky. No tactics. No setup. Just loud filler action. That’s what gives me Dragon Ball vibes in the bad way.

(And yes, sometimes it is just hot men doing it. Sue me. I have layers 🫣 …But with Tougen Anki? Forget layers – I gave up pretending by Episode 3. I went from, “ugh, dead-dad setup cliché” to “WHY IS HE POSING LIKE A RUNWAY MODEL WHILE PUNCHING PEOPLE, I’M OBSESSED??” The stylishness is elite. The OP/ED? Never skipped. Because yes – the hot men know they’re hot. And they fight like they’re hot. And they’re right.)

So yeah – cliché, generic, comfort-food shounen? Absolutely. But it’s also intentional, stylish, and way more addictive than I expected. I went in ready to drop it – now I’m in too deep. These three boys? OMG. 🔥

9/10 – I’ll die on the hill that generic is timeless, cliché is comfort food.

The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity?

So, you thought this anime was going to be a touching romance – maybe something with actual tension, passion, or god forbid, personality? Think again.

1. The way the camera pans over the female lead? It’s not animation – it’s devotion. Every blink, every sigh, every single time she breathes, the frame slows down like we’re witnessing a miracle.

2. Let’s talk emotional stakes. Oh wait, there aren’t any. She could be insulted, publicly humiliated - and she’d still just nod demurely and say “I understand.” Girl, blink twice if you’ve ever been allowed ... to get angry.

3. “Rival Schools” Plotline – Are You Kidding Me? The two-school divide is played like Romeo and Juliet, but in reality it's just posh uniform vs louder uniform. That’s it. The social conflict is so exaggerated it borders on satire. The way the show frames it, you’d think these kids were born on opposite sides of a bloody war. But no. THAT’S the conflict.

4. Fake Shy Girls ≠ Tsundere Queens
For the record: I love tsundere girls. The Silent Witch protagonist? Icon. Chihaya from Chihayafuru? Absolutely adorable. But this girl? She’s not shy because of actual character depth – she’s shy in that deliberately performative way. The “I’ll look down and stutter and blush while batting my lashes like I trained for it in front of a mirror” kind of shy. There’s a difference between genuine awkwardness and whatever this constructed coyness is supposed to be.

Final Verdict: You might learn a thing or two from the way she shows interest – textbook bashfulness, textbook helplessness. I’m giving this a generous 5/10, and that’s only because it’s pretty.

Waste of Time

I don’t even know where to begin. This show had everything going for it – aesthetic? check. mystery? check. cool setting? check. But somewhere between episode 1 and that insult of a finale, it decided to gaslight me for fun.

I sat there every week thinking, “Ooooh something's coming!!” Every breadcrumb of amnesia, memory overlap, and sci-fi subplot – from Sci-Terra backups to shady pharma clones – was laid out like a trail to greatness… and then just went nowhere.

Every single week, just as I was about to drop it, they'd toss in a crumb – a cryptic flashback, a glitch in the timeline, ... a sudden emotional beat – and I’d think, “Okay fine, maybe now it’s building up to something.” Spoiler: it wasn’t. Rinse, repeat. 13 episodes.

And the ending? No closure. Like… huh?? What even happened? Did that silly Rekopon girl just drop dead because she wanted to cure insomnia and then, what, gave up? Huh???

At least I can say I tried. But next time, I’m not following breadcrumbs into a black hole. 3/10 for vibes only.

LOL, okay, where do I even start with Snack Basue?! Saw the summary picture and my first thought was "Ah, this looks kinda budget..." But man, something just clicked, and I thought, "Let's give it a shot." And BAM, one episode in, I'm convinced it's the season's hidden gem. The humour? Off the charts. It's got this Gintama vibe but, dare I say, it's even better.

The whole show's just taking hilarious jabs at loser guys, and Morita? Absolute comedy gold. 😂 Every single episode's got me grinning from ear to ear. I'm all in, week after week.

It's just so funny. There's this genuine charm to ... it that I can't get enough of.

Well, well, well, call me a black sheep, but I gotta say, Nana is just soso in my book. I mean, I've heard so many people rave about it, so I thought I'd give it a shot, but by episode 10, I was already like, "meh, should I just move on to something else?" But I held on, I persevered, and I finally finished it at episode 47. And you know what? It's still just soso for me.

Despite my lukewarm feelings towards Nana, there are some things I enjoyed. The music is amazing, and the bands' performances are a highlight. I also appreciate the realistic ... portrayal of relationships and the struggles that come with them.

Now, don't get me wrong, the plot is actually pretty solid, but the delivery is just so slow. One thing that bothered me, however, is the lack of closure. The anime ends abruptly, leaving many loose ends and unanswered questions. It's frustrating to invest so much time into a series only to be left hanging.

Okay, confession time: when I first saw Senkuu's weird hair, I was this close to clicking the exit button. But man, am I glad I stuck around for episode 1! The concept of rebuilding civilization from scratch using science is so damn cool. I was hooked from the get-go!

And can we talk about how cute it is to watch them explore and discover things? Like, who knew making ramen could be so fascinating? Plus, the animation is really top-notch, which just adds to the whole experience.

Oh, and let's not forget about Tsukasa - he's hands down my favorite character. I mean, who doesn't love a ... good old fashioned strong and charismatic type? Overall, Dr. Stone is a must-watch for anyone who loves science, adventure, and a healthy dose of quirkiness.
