Seishun Buta Yarou wa Yumemiru Shoujo no Yume wo Minai

Six months ago, Sakuta Azusagawa had a chance encounter with a bunny girl in a library. Ever since then, he's been blissfully happy with his girlfriend: Mai Sakurajima, that same bunny girl. However, the reappearance of his mysterious first crush, the now-adult Shouko Makinohara, adds a new complication to his relationship with Mai. To make matters worse, he then encounters a middle school Shouko in the hospital, suffering from a grave illness. Mysteriously, his old scars begin throbbing whenever he's near her.

With Shouko's bizarre situation somehow revolving around him, Sakuta will need to come to terms with his own conflicting feelings, for better or worse. With a girl's life in his hands, just what can he do?

This movie was incredibly emotional! Sakuta's character truly flourished in this movie, revealing a genuine human side to him. One of the greatest moments in the film is a challenge in which he struggles to decide whether to save Makinohara or live and be with Mai. This scene perfectly captures his inner conflict and growth, making me love his character even more after the show.

On top of that, the film’s music and animation beautifully capture its emotional peaks. I can't lie, I almost cried multiple times during this movie, but still, the movie had a few things missing to execute that. The movie ... wasn't perfect, it felt rushed, especially by the ending, and the music didn't have enough emotional buildup to land as powerfully as they could have. Despite that, the story's theme of love, grief, and sacrifice wraps up the movie's message of what it means to care for someone.

Overall, this is an amazingly well-written story with an amazing cast of characters and a well-thought-out ending. I'd give it an 8.5/10. :)

Mixed Feelings

Ughhh- the only word to describe this movie.
First of all, even after re-watching I didn't get how many things happened. In the prequel you could understand things but I doubt many people got this and when you just don't get the plot the show will never feel good to you. If we are talking about Animation and sound, it is more gross. In the prequel, there were such vibrant colors; perfect for its content and while background sound was really not anything, I myself particularly enjoyed the OP. But unfortunately Cloverworks sucked in case of Animation in this movie; no vibrant colors, backgrounds hastily done ... that results in objects being not much detailed. And surprisingly, there's NO new music. NO new music, like no. In the ending they just added the same ending song of the series. These two factors affected the show greatly but that is not all.
Jokes, they were a great source of entertainment for me and as a bonus we don't get to see any cute scenes at all, no Kaede clinging to his brother, no nothing. Well, this show was made of content that wouldn't match with funny environment but I thought that maybe the director or whoever has that sort of thing/writer of the light novel would be witty enough to add some jokes as to make it more of a good meal for us fans to digest but no luck. Though one thing I am happy about is that there were no new characters cause if new characters just kept popping up and Sakuta kept on solving their problems, this show would be in the ditch.
Anyway, a lot of revelations and well, kinda emotional things going on; all together it's enough to be not called a bad show but even as a fan, I wouldn't call it good.

This movie left a big impression on me which urged me to write this review.

It has the same premise as the series. A girl has a problem due to Puberty Syndrome and Sakuta has to solve it. It's interesting in the beginning when the movie present a dilemma consisting of Sakuta having to make a sacrifice in order to help the girl, its point is to make the viewer wonder what will be his choice or how he will solve it. unfortunately, we get to know later that his choice on saving Makinohara or not doesn't matter because he can ... just go back in time and change it. The introduction of the time travelling possibility ruins the thrill of the movie, there's nothing at stake anymore. Not only that, but we also get to know that even the fact that he tried to save her was pointless, because she can just go back in time herself and makes her disease (which caused all the problem in the movie) simply not exist anymore. So in the end, everything was pointless, nothing was really done (because every action was undone by going back in time) and everyone can live happily now. Mai, Sakuta and Makinohara who all died at some point in the story, being it in present, future or whenever, didn't matter at all.

The characters are as bad written as in the series, there's no development here. Sakuta is still a dull, unlikable characters who the main traits are constantly make bad jokes and showing his perverted thoughts towards his girlfriend, or any other girl really.

Mai is the perfect girl who loves Sakuta more than anything in the world for no reason at all. The author tried to go with the typical tsundere perfect girl who develops feelings for the MC, but failed pathetically, after watching 13 episodes and this movie, I can't tell much about her personality or what makes her special except that she wears a bunny girl outfit and she looked good on it. She is mainly used in the movie to create forced tearjerker scenes with Sakuta.

Makinohara is portrayed as a confident and calm girl who, of course, has deep feelings for Sakuta as well, and is also not afraid to tell Sakuta her feelings, despite knowing he has a girlfriend, even when the girlfriend is present by the way. She is that way, except when she is not, because then she is an insecure and timid girl. You can use the fact we get to see her during different times of her life as an excuse for the inconsistency on her character though. So I don't think she is that bad, comparing with the other characters in the movie, at least.

Futaba is the science girl who appears once in a while to explain what's going on with some bullshit "scientific" arguments. But she is actually only there to throw the word "quantum" to validate all the nonsense and the plot holes going on.

The art is just like in the anime, nothing special. The sound is average, and there isn't a song for the movie, you can only listen to the same ending of the anime during the credits, except that it's singed by all de voice actresses of the girls.
I didn't enjoy the movie. Actually, I found myself looking at the timer a lot to see how many minutes of suffering were still waiting. I didn't enjoy the series either, but I tried the movie anyway to see why the score is so high and I was curious to see what was the deal with Makinohara. I was not only disappointed, but ended up with something even worse, by a lot, than the series.

I regret watching this movie and don't recommend anyone to watch it. I just can't think of a single good thing about it that will make the movie somewhat enjoyable. I tried my best to find qualities to give a score higher, but I just couldn't.

The conclusion is that this movie is the worst anime I've ever watched, and I can only wish I could go back in time and erase my mistake of watching it, just like in the movie. Or even better, it could all be a dream that didn't really happened, just like in the movie.
