Kimi to Idol Precure♪

Uta Sakura is a lively and energetic middle school student who loves singing.
One day, while walking her dog, she encounters a cute, peach-like fairy named Purirun, who is searching for the Legendary Protectors "Idol Precure." Purirun's hometown, KirakiLand, was a peaceful, sparkly place but has been forced into darkness by the villainous Darkine, leader of the Chokkiri Gang. Uta decides to help Purirun search for cheerful and happy people to become the Precure so KirakiLand can become bright again.
Suddenly, the Chokkiri gang arrive in Hanamichi Town, Uta's hometown, and steal the sparkles from the townspeople. Uta decides to illuminate the darkness with sparkles from her song and is granted the power to transform into the Legendary Protector, Cure Idol.

Preliminary (6/49 eps)

Kimi Idol Precure is amazing. I liked it from the first episode. It manages to keep you hooked, whether it's the story, the characters or even the super catchy songs!

Toei is making the dance scenes and the songs with love. They are very well written and catchy. They keep you hooked and make you sing along!

A super light and relaxed anime for those of you looking for something different. It is an anime to sell toys and makeup, YES!!, but you can get a lot out of this work!

I ask that you watch at least the first three episodes to have a good evaluation of ... the work. I guarantee that it will keep you hooked!!!

Note about the animation: The animation is good. They manage to take advantage of the 3D with the 2D very well, without going overboard and ruining the experience. Quite the opposite, it makes it very good due to the fluidity of some frames!!

Are you one of the people, like me, who is disappointed with how the Super Sentai currently in production (No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger) has developed during the last ten or so episodes? well, I have a news for you, apparently the Super Sentai show you're looking for is not the main one but this iteration of the Pretty Cure franchise that is my official entry in the IP after three terrible past experiences with other Pretty Cure series (The first one A.K.A. the 70's Kamen Rider/Goranger in animated form, the terrible Smile Pretty Cure by hacks Yuji Kobayashi and Shoji Yonemura, the even more horrible ... yet highly overrated because reasens Go Princess Precure) because it removes all the complains I had about those series (particularly Princess) since there are no Mary Sues in sight and it shows you how well the formula of making an animated version of the tokusatsu IPs of Toei (In this series you can find cool elements borrowed from the Sentais, the Kamen Rider and the Space Sheriffs/Metal Heroes) with a topping of magical girls has been perfected to an insane degree that it's practically seamless. Pair this with gorgeous looking cures (I must particularly thank my main wife from this series Cure Idol and the people who made XXX fanart about her on Pixiv in convincing me to give this series a try like they're convincing me to give a try to other shows in this same line, but in reality all the ladies look great) sporting gorgeous looking civilian identities (particularly in the last episode The Adepta Sororitas lookalike Purirun and the black-haired Meroron steal the show hands down) and technical proficiency that will convince even critics of the bad use of CGI like me - yup, the CGI crap in The Hades chapter and the Sailor Moon remakes was probably due to Toei not being commercially interested in those in the slightest - and you have a wet dream come true for the magical girls AND tokusatsu fan alike, particularly of the male kind like I am. As a side note, I find ridicolous that the Pretty Cures anime is giving an example of what the Super Sentai equivalent should give me, including the Choujin Sentai Jetman callbacks I'm expecting from the Daughter of Toshiki Inoue himself and No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger is recently sparsely giving me as somebody of the higher ups decided to hamfistedly turn Gozyuger into a Red Kamen Rider fest but here we are, The Pretty Cures win and Gozyuger, if nothing changes soon, loses. I hope they keep the quality of this show as it is until the very end.
Edit: Kimi To Idol Finished, Kimi to Idol has won over No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger, despite the latter not being as bad as it was when I wrote this review. It sucks to be right! (not).

Mixed Feelings

Precure has had a lot of good series in the past, however I can't say for this one. It's not downright horrendous, but the writing is probably one of the worst writing a precure series has ever had. As a magical girl anime, it does what it needs to: have a colorful cast of characters, fights, friendship between the characters and so and so forth. The show itself is very entertaining, but I can't help but be disappointed as well. The main theme for this precure is that it has to do with idols, a very fun concept! They could've done so much more with ... the whole idol shtick. It could've had outfit changes, rival idols, insert songs.. Yet it had none of that. This season will definitely be remembered for it's aesthetics rather than the story and characters.

That being said, it's not a bad season. It's just lazy and it's more as if TOEI was trying to sell a product rather than tell a story.
