A 2nd demon lord slain right at ep3? Amazing
Great to see the remaining cast is relevant and useful, wasnt expecting the mad king and the mindless berserk to be this much impactful to the story, the characters seem rly well balanced where Xylo, even with Teorita support, isnt some kind of insane 1 shot everything and everyone, that's refreshing.

Also are we getting romance btw the commander and xylo or not? smh...

Loving it so far, while some parts aren't exactly to my liking admit ain't no Yuri I do like the character interactions and how it's subverting what people usually think about as a hero in a fantasy setting in a unique and interesting way.

I'm pretty tired with the fight scenes by now... sure we're only 3 episodes in but nothing new comes from xylo besides throw dagger

The fight with the demon lord in episode 2 also showed this, xylo just kept hopping up and throwing some swords at the big target

I like how you can tell even before this episode that Xylo has deep respect for Norgalle and his character (even if he has a few screws loose), and his way of honoring that is treating him like a king even if he doesn't believe he is one, since I believe Xylo would follow him as a king if he were one and it'd be nice if the kings in their world were like Norgalle. Early hint before demonstrating his kingly character in the fight since Xylo, despite his no bullshit approach to things, already seemed to respect Nogalle's king title despite it all.

I was enjoying it immensely until the goddamned goddess showed up with her incrediblly grating voice and head pat requests cliché. Why the hell do so many authors feel like they have to squeeze godamn loli characters into everything they do? (You don't need to reply, alas, I know exactly why they do it and it kills me).

His majesty really is one ole school GAR character

Norgalle has easily become my favorite character of this anime already! I don't care if he's delusional, someone put this man in charge of the country already!!! (Honestly wouldn't be surprised if it turns out at some point that he is the true king and simply got framed like Xylo was lol)

tiny bit of character development for a side char, then 90% the same as ep2. also the parts where they're cheaping out on animation are becoming more and more evident, though there are still some great cuts

@Conflagr8 No, it has nothing to do with "propaganda" Let's imagine that an individual who committed such a serious crime that he doesn't even deserve death appears in front of you... I would immediately look away and run. That's natural, not "propaganda."

Besides, with only three episodes, the anime still has a lot to reveal about the heroes, so don't draw shallow conclusions based on your personal opinion.

You'd be making the mistake of taking the statements about the severity of heroes' crimes seriously, when we've been directly shown that the theocracy is lying about those crimes they're charging heroes with. Their exact agenda still remains unclear, but that's just about definitionally propaganda.

@Conflagr8 Tell me, are you afraid of bears, sharks, or lions because of propaganda...? I don't think so, so don't confuse a completely rational and natural action with whatever you think "propaganda" means.

Yet again impressed. I was initially and still am somewhat concerned about the future of the plot for this series, but I couldn't be happier with how they're developing the characters and the action. Norgalle was certainly fantastic this episode, like many have also said before me.

Hold up, King Norgalle really really earned his stripes today. Whereas Xylo’s cynicism affects his ability to give a rousing pre-battle speech, the King is an absolute tour de force and I loved every second of it. Also, shout outs to the beast Tatsuya and to Captain Kivia for coming in clutch at the end for the heroes.

It's nice to see a few other heroes to get a better idea of what other heroes are like. Tatsuya, despite having the worst fate of anyone, was indispensable in the fight. Same with His Majesty, his resolve about helping people is admirable. Looks like even the army lady is coming around to the heroes.

I think at this point this show is in dire need of some exposition on the world and how this magic system works. So there are numbered Demon Lords, why exactly? Where did they come from? How many are there in total? How are Goddesses made? Can multiple exist at the same time? The dialogue about the seals they have didn't do a great job explaining how they work. We need a better understanding of the world so that the stakes feel more substantial.

King & Tatsuya saved the day. Tatsuya is great to watch just wild brainless swinging.

I just hope more and more of this "knights" die each time. Atleast Kivia finally grown a spine.

He might have that delusion of being the king of the empire, but Norgalle showed he could be worthy of that title, because he cut his own leg to end that Demon and protect his people. I was not expecting that turn of events, I was surprised by his character, I thought they would take him in another direction, but I'm glad they are following this direction instead.

The action scenes were also really good, as usual, but I felt the episode had some more still scenes than usual, it might be just my impression, especially after watching Frieren and Fire Force yesterday, but I did end up noticing them.

The final scene with the little girl offering Xylo those flowers was really cute, especially taking into account Xylo's situation, as we have seen time and time over how he saves the day most of the times, and after doing go, gets treated badly and is not aknowledged by that, solely because he's a hero. Also, it's cute he was just like "Teoritta, just demand that from fellow children" and how Teoritta in the end seemed like she just wanted to play with that little girl, because she is essencialy a kid too.

Also, Kivia let Xylo get that admiration from that family, and even reprehended that guy from the church. As I expected, I feel like she's slowly going to change her perspective on the Heroes (especially Xylo, since it seems she might end up as his romantic interest, if the anime decided to add a bit of romance).

Well, I'm really excited to see how the anime goes after this episode. So the repair shop is just the place where heroes can get treated, and it also seems like they can get limbs reattached and everything, so they don't need to be ressurected if they get badly wounded, which is interesting to know, since this way they don't need to loose part of their identity. I just didn't understand why Dotta needed to go there, he wasn't injured at the end of the 1st episode.

@PokefanPT Norgalle is undoubtedly my favorite character, and the anime is doing a great job with his characterization.
The same can be said about Teoritta, since that scene of Xylo being congratulated on the miner's daughter is original and shows us that the anime is faithfully representing Teoritta's personality, who acts like a child.
The same can also be said about Kivia, in episode 2 she should already be showing some interest in Xylo, but in the anime they cut that so that in episode 3 she would show some sympathy.
All the character arcs and their relationships, like that of Xylo and Teoritta, are being developed more gradually than in the light novel, i'm loving it.

Decent episode. Feels a bit simple so far and most characters are bit one-note, but nothing egregious.

Didn't really like Teoritta's role this episode. They really push her desire for attention and it's definitely more vibe-killing and a little annoying than funny or quirky. She didn't feel really useful despite going against orders to come back to the front lines. Her little scene where she realizes Xylo doesn't want her to die is decent, but it feels like a minor thing that won't affect their dynamics too drastically.

Xylo does the job as a cool, slightly self deprecating MC. Can't go wrong with that archetype.

I guess the general story progression will give us a few of these Demon Lord hunts to improve the bond between Xylo and Teoritta before bringing Xylo's revenge to the front with occasional clues leading up to that.

So far would rate the series a 7/10.

The stigma against heroes is starting to really annoy me because what, the holy knights are the good ones? They're not doing sh*t and are really just nuisances and keep getting carried by the heroes. Maybe/hopefully there's actual holy knights that match heroes?
@YuushaNi yeah i kinda hate this element from edgy revenge plot animes. they make other characters be inept compared to the mc so that we'd root for the mc more. it's unnatural for them to be stigmatized rather than pitied to suffer this kind of tortured sentence.

Bro was MVP this episode, from enhancing weapons, raising the miners' spirits and bloody cutting his own leg off to kill the demon lord! Xylo stepped out of the limelight to let his KING lead the way this episode.

Also nice to see the heroes get some respect at the end of the episode...even from the knight lady?!?

Well, I’ve officially suffered through the three-episode rule, and I can say for sure: this is trash. The characters are paper-thin, especially the edgy MC. There’s zero plot, just a constant "look how dark and gritty our world is" vibe that feels like peak teenage angst. The fights and enemies are boring as hell. Those exploding daggers are such a cheap, lazy shortcut—zero impact, zero satisfaction. They clearly only exist so Youtube reactors can act like "Wow, what an explosion!" while the studio saves money on actual choreography.

This episode's animation tanked to One Slide Man levels, if not worse. The fights are just moving slideshows. 90% of the rest is just static images with a moving mouth, a character sliding across a background, or just slow pans over still frames with some voiceover.

Honestly, just bury it. This is a total train wreck.

Dropping this 4/10 trash with zero regrets.

It’s dumb when people just repeat buzzwords. Calling it "godlike animation" when it’s actually bad. Or "real dark fantasy at last", even though Clevatess last year was much better, just less hyped.

Awww, I'm glad the daughter got to be reunited with her dad 😭 and it's nice that Xylo and the Heroes are hopefully starting to win over some people in the knights.

Also the King was incredibly badass, and I agape as he was cutting off his own leg to finish the Demon Lord 😵

I'm also hoping that this show doesn't have too much of a tragic ending, and I can't tell yet if it's one of those shows where it's a lost cause that's they're struggling in vain against.
Will see, but I get the sense it might have a kind of sad or emotional closing 😶 (if there's a 'full story' this season anyway).

@aenimus18 No, man 😭, for your indignation about the anime's lack of quality to seem genuine, you can't exaggerate like when you said "the animation is on the level of One slide man 3." That completely undermines your comment because it becomes obvious you're just exaggerating to create rage bait.
Next time, avoid exaggerations, or your interpretation won't be taken seriously.

@Desmascarado I appreciate your input. But still, rewatch the fights in this episode. In the first fight, the sprite of a motionless character just slides across the screen. In most of the others there’s no real contact combat: a character swings, then they show a static enemy with hit effects layered on top, and then a static image of the enemy falling apart. Like in old JRPGs 🙂 In most non-combat scenes there’s only one moving element, or none at all. The budget has clearly taken a big hit here.

Yeah I'm just gonna drop this... There's no real plot. No mystery. No intrigue. The characters have no substance whatsoever. Boring dialogue. Shit tier monster designs.

I am baffled as to why this series has as high of a rating as it does. Sitting through a single episode is a chore.
