Excellent, both the ending episode and the series!

Rintarou and Kaoruko form a sweet couple.

I wish more. I wish a second season. Rooting for it to happen.

Ms. Tsumugi: "What do you want for today, Waguri-san?"

Kaoruko: "Your son!"

Masterpiece indeed! I know I should be sleeping by now, but OMG, this was so worth it!

Kaoruko is easily THE BEST GIRL in this whole summer season. No one can ever come close to her cuteness, even when there are some Monicas and Maries also on the season.

"I'm Kaoruko and I have no brakes from now on!"

Again: MASTERPIECE!. Damn it, Cloverworks. You did it again!

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

It seems like a simple, sweet story, but it is so beautifully done, all the characters are great from the main ones to the secondary ones, and the backstory of how the characters met from Kaoruko’s pov was the cherry on this magnificent cake, 10000 out of 10, I hope there will be a sequel, it’s worth it.

Great finale episode, the festival as well as seeing the first episode in waguri's perspective was really cute. Any manga readers had the issue of feeling like you wish you never read the manga so you could witness the anime for the first time? Cus as a manga reader, knowing the story way beforehand, im a little said my excitement wasn't blown off the roof like the anime only fans, but regardless I very much enjoyed the anime. 8-8.5/10 for me.

It was a bit surprising to see a moments montage in the anime, cus thats a sign that we won't be getting another season, or that there isn't plan for another season for a very long time, but that isn't definitive. But thinking about, I wouldn't be that surprised if we dont get another season for a very long time or if not at all, I would love another season, but the problem is that where the manga goes, it goes very indept in the side casts, which is great, but you will be waiting a long time for major moments for the main couple, so I could see discouragement for another season when the first gives a complete narrative so well.

But man, I can't believe we are finally done with the cloverwork trio. I honestly think the summer 2025 anime season is on the best anime seasons of all time. If I had rank all three, dress up darling, rascal santa claus, and fragrent flowers:
Fragrent Flowers would have the best romance
Rascal Santa Claus has the best story
Dress up Darling has the best animation.

but thats my opinion.

wow, even if she was shy, she tried to make him notice her...

music/ colours / dialogues, everything was perfect.

You should recommend this one to all your friends...
don't let them miss this amazing anime.

I will not accept a rating less than 9 or don't rate...
Life's too short for mid anime/manga. Don't like it? Drop it.

That was the most beautiful confession scene I've ever seen!!!🥹😭
I can't believe Kaoruko met Rintaro even before ep.1, I mean the way she reacted to hearing his name was a clue, but still!! It was just a perfect fate, and she even dolled up just for the chance to meet him!?! That was so cute!!🥰

Even if there's not gonna be a season 2, I'm gonna continue with the manga!!!

This is gonna take a while to write out since I have a lot of thoughts on this show but I'll start with the episode.

Honestly I was a little surprised at how forward this episode was with the confession, which isn't bad its just something you don't see in romance anime much anymore. Im gonna be honest while I've never read the manga I was 99% certain the Kaoruko knew Rintarou prior to their meeting in episode 1. I purely assumed this based of her words during episode 1, it just seemed like this wasn't her first time meeting him and seems like I was correct.

Im really curious to know what Kaoruko was actually going through before they met, because she looked really depressed back during their actual first meeting, If I had to guess it was maybe a family issue, it don't seem like her school life is any bad state. From what I remember I think she mentioned she has a couple of little brothers maybe. But idk what it would be beyond a school or family issue. Maybe its just your old fashioned depression, or hell maybe Im reading too much into it.

Its just to fall in love that hard and break down like that after eating a cake it just seems like idk she had something bad going on which lead up to that. But again hell maybe Im reading too much into it. Anyways the episode was a sweet ending to the anime ended off with the two main characters getting together nothing more. (Which is very good)

Now to talk about the actual anime in general this is probably the best romance anime I've watched as in its the best romance anime I've watched which is just a romance anime, not like other certain anime like say fruits basket which has other elements besides romance. (Though that shows way better imo but that's just personal preference). But I think the reason this anime is so good is because its literally just a romance nothing more.

it can appeal to so many people because certain elements other romance anime have don't exist in this show such as major drama, Fan service and like super messed up moments. These kind of topics can only appeal to certain people and because this anime has none of that it can appeal to so many people and this is coming from someone who loves anime/manga with extremely heavy and rough topics.

This anime has also got a really pretty animation/art style, Great voice acting (Subbed) and I think the music wasn't anything too special honestly, I liked the opening but nothing else notable.

Beyond that the best factor of this show was the characters, every single character is unique, lovable, very well written and just a joy to watch grow and thrive. I won't yap about every character but I gotta touch on Subaru, she was easily the best part of this show and the most compelling and lovable character with how she dealt with her own internal hate for herself and how much she can care for Kaoruko.

This show also has actually got a interesting pair of parents for the mc, which is kinda rare with romance anime.

But overall I think this anime is incredible because it simply goes back to the roots of what this genre is and doesn't branch out into any unnecessary plot lines, weird moments or any of that. Its sweet and fun to watch and every character is interesting.

I won't be reading the manga since this will probably get a season 2, so I'll just let it adapt gradually. Looking forward to this animes future.

Extremely high 9/10

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

THIS IS WAS SO GOOD! I STILL WANT MORE! FUUUUUUU-

I actually cant contain myself from how much i love this series. The starting off with no intro, going into it straight to a festival theme, and then GOOD GOD the momentum of their communication leading to A bench scene. I genuinly thought there was going to be some INTENSE awkwardness building up this episode, then be left with a cliff hanger. Im happy I WAS WRONG! and dear god they're so FUCKING ADORABLE! and the way Rintaru just dropped it twice, kinda made me feel he was just grabbing for something but then landed it with the "-since I saw you-" line MAN AND THEN HE TOOK OFF WITH THE "please go out with me" AHHHHHH

so Beautiful, SO cute, SO FINE. Normally, the girl would say yes, no, maybe, yada yada. The backstory on this one. And the stark contrast between Waguri and Rintaru's perspective feels so mirror like in their behavior when they helped each other when they both felt lost, and their happiness when they found out that they were so close (physically) to each other. GOD I WANT MORE. PLEASE DEAR GOD THIS SHOW IS JAILED BY NETFLIX FUUUUU

“And it’s all because I met you” thank you so much Cloverworks for doing this adaptation justice. No OP this week, no bs, not running from the confession last week, but doubling down and confirming they feel the same way about each other. That’s why this series is so beloved because it’s simple and straight to the point. No drawn out misunderstandings to sell more manga volumes, just two people who encourage and love each other with all their heart while helping each other to grow. Isn’t it nice to have series where your leads are together after one cour and you get to focus on them growing as a couple and people?!

Kaoruko looked sooo cute in her Yukata, I could cry!! Rintaro a better man than I because I would’ve been stuttering like a mf lol. The fact he gritted his teeth and just reaffirmed how he feels just shows why he’s such a great lead. Here’s a guy who had no friends or reason to leave the house just a year ago, and now he’s able to do this! Kaoruko and the boys deserve a lot of credit, but Rintaro had to take that first step and I’m so glad he did.

Speaking of first steps, the Kaoruko flashback hit at the perfect time because it addresses one of the biggest criticisms about this series in the early going, that Kaoruko just fell in love with Rintaro and it’s wish fulfilment. don’t get me wrong there’s a lot of convenience in the story, it’s a shonen at the end of the day, but Rintaro was putting in work and bringing joy to her life without ever knowing it. It’s because he’s the sort of person to be kind and help someone who’s down that she fell in love with him, the fact he would’ve done the same thing for anyone just shows truly wonderful a guy he is. Everyone talks about Kaoruko being such an amazing catch, but Rintaro has given her just as much as she’s given him!

I couldn’t help but laugh when Kaoruko found out Rintaro was her same age, the fact she was willing to make a move on him even if he were an adult is funny af. Also, it’s really fitting she finally got to meet and talk him the one time she didn’t have her hair and makeup done, he got to see her just as she is and still fell for her, true love.

“I love you too Rintaro-kun” ahhhh I can’t, this entire ending was just perfect, the credit roll as well. These lovebirds’ story is just getting started and I hope we get to see more of it animated because there’s so much more to this story. Phenomenal job from Cloverworks bringing this to life 🙏🏾

I was hoping for a stronger ending. There was so much leading up to this moment - for me it fell a little short.

Considering the naturally slower pace of this show, I actually didn’t expect us to jump straight into the festival like that. Not complaining though, it just gives us more time to see Waguri in her lovely yukata, so all’s well ofc. Though, we know why we’re here… picking up where we left off last time, confession time. And wasting no time, Rintaoru just says the simple words: “I love you.” His reasons are nothing short of genuine as he lays them out for Waguri. Sweet and genuine, the Rintaoru special.

Waguri knows all too well that he’s always been this sweet and genuine person. That’s how they first met after all, not in episode one, but way further back. Even further back than that, Rintaoru was always someone who reached out to Waguri and helped her, almost the reverse of how things are in the present. At first glance, that’s true. We’ve been in Rintarou’s POV this whole time, but now seeing things from Waguri’s perspective, we realize they both equally helped each other into a light neither had seen before. Seeing everything from her POV really changes a lot, really glad they showed us her side and didn’t just stick with Rintarou.

It’s THEIR romance after all; we need to know how both of them feel. And the way they feel is nothing short of mutual love for each other... though, we’ve known that from the start, haven’t we :) Which leads us back to the present, where would ya know it, the feelings mutual, as we've know xD

Man, I could dissect this finale for how perfect it is in every aspect, but then I’d have to dissect the whole show for how perfect it’s been from start to finish… and from here, it’ll only get better. We’ve barely reached the tip of the iceberg, much more is to come, and I’ll be here waiting for that day.
@IzanaSolos that back story dump was a fuckin SLOG to get through. Jesus get to the fucking point sister

Kaoruko is adorable in this frame~

Nothing is better than wrapping up the season with a summer festival and that they finally reaffirm their feelings for each other, we get to see Kaoruko's POV and how much warmth she had after eating the cake and meeting Rintarou for the first time. I feel so emotionally moved after watching this.

If S2 ever gets announced I hope it won't take years for release like MDUD again. 10/10

The problem with people like you is that you have the wrong way of evaluating, Dandadan and this are two different things, comparing them is a stupid thing to do.

it was a reference for rating, of an anime started around the same time, make sense respective to it's category (supernatural) and isn't glazed
and I agree on the fact that every anime is good, but not on every other anime is peak , and if u think this is "peak" then u probably didn't heard of kaguya sama or fruits basket

Wow. So, Rintaro calls Kaoruko for the first time, and asks if he can meet her, and she agrees. She wants to go to the festival with him. They meet, have a good time, eat a lot, then they sit and talk. Rintaro again tells her that he likes her, but he's sorry for being selfish. She, of course, after a lot of shyness in parts of the episode, responds with her usual kindness, and asks if he remembers when they met. It was actually a few months before, when she wasn't in a great frame of mind, and he happened to save her. He doesn't remember, but then, she had straight hair at the time. Then she started going to the cake shop a few times a month, getting dressed up every time, but could never talk to him. She was already very interested in him. Then that night, which was in episode 1, she went in, not dressed up, and he saw her, she ran out embarrassed. We know what happens next, though. But many of the encounters are shown from her point of view, as well as her telling him how she felt throughout these moments. Finally, at the end, she introduces herself and asks him to take care of her. She tells him that she loves him.

And that is how to do a romance that's sweet, wholesome, and full of wonderful moments. But the manga is still going, isn't it? Will we get a second season? Can we? Please? Need more Waguri/Tsumugi wholesome romance!

I’d give this a 7.6/10 (rounding off to 8 for MAL purposes). For a series finale, it was a little lackluster, but it put a nice ribbon on top of the whole package. Gorgeous animation throughout.

I’d say the starting was stronger than the ending, and I kept getting a little bored, and at times annoyed, as the show kept progressing. While the story was simple and nice, the onslaught of arigato
Gommenasai got on nerves at times.

It was good, for a romance anime, but the best romance for now, still goes to TDIMH.

Would watch if a season 2 ever came out. Perhaps they could improve the pacing somewhat, but I understand that stories of such nature usually have a bit of a slower pace.

I loved this episode. I loved seeing what was happening off screen or off the page as it were. I knew Kaoruko liked Rintaro, but I didn’t expect her to be a bit stalky.

I thoroughly enjoyed the entire season. I liked all of the characters and how they were portrayed. The 4 way bromance with Rintaro and the guys was great! Ginpatsu didn’t even bother me after awhile. Now, I want cake.

It's not possible. These thirteen weeks have been wonderful. Maybe I'm just speaking for myself, but the adaptation of this story filled me with so many feelings that, while I don't think they're solely happiness, I do believe they've been some of the most rewarding of my final days. This has undoubtedly been an experience I doubt I'll repeat in the near future. In short, everything seen this season has been some of the most fascinating I've witnessed in my two years as a fan of this beautiful story. I'm giving it a 10/10 only because it can't be rated much higher.
P.S. If the second season isn't announced this year, we'll be taking over Netflix Latin America. You've been warned.

I could totally buy that Kaoruko would be genuinely sweet enough to want to treat Rintaro for running out on him on his "first" encounter with her, but finding out how everything truly began with her first encounter with him just makes what they have more magical than it already was.

Pretty fitting for a romance that sparked at a cake shop to be among the fluffiest and sweetest ones ever.

I'm definitely needing that insulin shot after this episode.
Rintaro's confession, followed by Kaoruko's reverse confession is too much for my heart.

Definitely one of, if not the best finale of the season.
Would love to see another season of this, but wouldn't actually mind if Cloverworks stopped here.
