i'm, like, still reading it, right? and i don't know how much my experience is going to differ from whatever backwoods scanlation someone else is reading. But it's definitely a cut above the usual slop. 9 chapters in, It's also improved a lot since the first couple of chapters as far as the art is concerned. typically with manga the pilot is the strongest chapter and the rest of the chapters are uninspired derivative slop, but i feel like this is actually a case where the author's improved on their concept and is still delivering fresh bread in later volumes. dud chapters, but overall the quality is high, every chapter stands out from its neighbors, and the characters have maintained distinct and vibrant identities, which is more than this genre usually offers. it's delivered very well on its premise, and the writing and style feels very fresh for such well-trodden territory. I love the cynical unhinged hipster rants and um-akshually info-dumps, which feel very in-character and get very fun reactions from surrounding characters. It's a real romp.
i'm not going to give something i haven't finished yet a 10, and it's not life-changing or anything, but i really couldn't tell you what I'd want to be different about it. It's not trying to invent a new kind of wheel. It's just a really good wheel. I guess if there's anything i had to point at, off the top of my head, that it could do in future chapters, it's breathing some life into other aspects of these characters' lives. So far the author's stuck very closely to their after-school clubtime and so-called 'subculture research excursions' (basically dates around town), which i think is plenty good enough for 10 chapters and very sensible considering that's literally the premise - but it might do to offer a glimpse into stuff like their classes, their home life, maybe one or two familial relationships... Maybe something to visit on in later volumes. I think it's perfect so far.
