This manwha - 4/10; The light novel - 9/10
The story is great, but you won't be able to tell that from this confusing adaptation. This manwha is going to be a huge let-down to anyone who enjoyed the original cancelled manwha years ago or read the Light Novel. I can't recommend it to new readers, which sucks because I'm a huge fan of this series.

As an avid manga/manhua/manwha reader for a long while, it’d be disappointing if I hadn’t already read the original or most remakes. I fondly remembered the original of this manwha because of how boring it was and the bastard of a cliffhanger it left me two years ago. Thus, after hearing about the remake, I prayed that it would be significantly better than the previous. And oh boy, I was definitely not disappointed. i just dropped this series at the end of S1. S1 covers the financial arc this alone was very entertaining and made was an immaculate setup for the seasons to come, ended on the perfect cliffhanger to get into the next arc.
but as soon as i started the next chapter/season i realized something was amiss, the art went from a 8.4/10 to a 5.3/10. its art style for me was a gripping point, was unique enough to separate it from its most other manhwa but the beginning of S2 they changed artist and now its just so generic. keep in mind the art is ...

This was one of the most disappointing manhwa I've ever read.
It baits you with some fake complexity, lot of economic blahblah which makes half sense from the pov of the MC and what he wants to achieve by dominating the world's economy to ensure that the financial system doesn't collapse when the monsters invasion starts, but it's INCREDIBLY poorly executed, taking almost entirely the first season (60+ chapters!!!!) and turning a gates regression story into a mega boring "chabeol's youngest son" kind of crap. Then the invasion starts and it's all CONSTANTLY rage bait where the writer keeps methodically and completely destroying ALL what he had ...

Past life returner achieves something in its execution that I have always looked for when reading regression stories. It manages to actually use the knowledge of the future to turn the story into an exploration of how this could be used with particular aim towards the financial markets. I like this approach a lot and it is clear that a lot of care has been taken to make sure that the pacing doesn't screw up this exploration. That is perhaps what was the downfall of the original adaptation of the webnovel that was cancelled after 29. Granted, I have not actually read the novel, but
