Yeah , the BO definitely affected our starboy Vini , but i think that the constant "clash" between him and Mbappe on their positionnement just makes it even worse and , his games with true striker like Garcia and Endrick were pretty good

for Husijen , he just symbolizes what i dislike more and more defense in today's football , since the fraud Van djik (never got dribbled because this man use to wait FOREVER to DEFEND) because of him , Defenders now lack a lot of aggressivity and yes , it's high risk and high reward , when you're a dfenders and you're going 1v1 when the team counter attacks , you have two choices:

1: you go back and back until you can make the opponent uncomfortable enough for him to miss his shot or you to easily intercept it (or your gk)
But you didn't get that much of a reward , a 6 yards at best.

2:You act like a true defender and you slide tackle him fastly , take back the ball and pass it fastly to one of your midfielders , then if you've sicced you can totally change the game , because the team who was counter attacking now needs to defend.
Or you fail and either get a red card or let your oppponent go 1v1 agsint your gk.

I will start with my top 3

1: Ferland Mendy
I absolutely love him (maybe more than i should) he's my4th favorite baller because i just LOVEEE seeing a defensive left back in today's times where laterals looks more like second winger and BARELY have any defensives skills , i also think we owe him 2 UCL , with the amazing save against city you already know and people sleep SO MUCH on his performance against Dortmund in 2024 final , that was just an awesome solid season for him , he put this fraud of garcia on bench and i absolutely loved it , this little Carerras is next.

2:Vinicius
I will never stop loving him , yes he's bad now , yes he was bad almost the entirety of last year (because of Mbappe , his games with a true striker like Endrick or even his pre-season games with Garcia were good , Lbappe just does not know his position), i will always support him until he leave us
(6th favorite baller too)

The third place was hard to be honest.
But i've chosen Valeverde , our captain and true warrior , HE WANTS it , i know he's gonna give 1000% every times he plays and you just can't say anything bad about him (he's literally the player with the most minutes played this season , yes , even above goalkeeper like Raya from Arsenal and that's is CRAZY)

Now i will say my thoughts about the current state of MAdrid
First of all i'm a very "hearted" person i would say , i either love or hate it , many peoples thinks i'm too harsh on my team , but it's because it's my team and i've seen GREATNESS (Ronaldo and Ramos at the same club , same moment , my first memory was Ramos header against Atletico in final)
Our goalkeeper is still awesome(top 3 all time after Neuer and Casillas btw) , he takes goal because defense is just ass
Defense is the thing i have the most expectations for and i hate our actual defense , i will go player by player because they're ass.

Alaba:he was solid and great , just old , i still love him a lot , defense leader of our 2022 UCL

Carvajal:I've always found him overrated , for me he's just 'good place , good moments" in so many crosses of his career , but i may totally be wrong here because i dislike him.

Militao:Dogass shit.HE never was good , literally never solid enough and always mid.Always got carried by the second CB.

Rudiger:I love him , he has this little like vice , malice and ruse of a good central back to do a foul at the perfect timing.

Carreras:Not seen enough but great games for now , but Mendy is here bro unfortunately for him.

Fran Garcia:get the hell out of here , his biggets strenght is speed right? (just go watch this against Martinelli , you dont need to understand french , just wait for the action to appear , that's not Madrid level , i am sorry)

Arnold:Fuck him , i've always hated him at liverpool and i was SAD he came to my club he's a defensive... nothing , since he doesn't even defend , no one ever sees him do a tackle btw , that's a myth.

first of all what makes you love madrid?

Personally it really is the Sergio Ramos and Pepe duo , especially Ramos , i was just IMPRESSED by his defense and defense in general , that's why i always defend when i play with friends or even when i watch a game , i tend to watch more the defenders of both team that the other position.

And you've also talked about the NBA , do you have a franchise you support?

Mine is memphis grizzlies , in fact , it's only been month since i care about NBA a, i have a friends as close as a brother who always loved bball and i just wanted to have something more in common , i've immediately stick with Mem grizzlies , just like this , not knowing a thing about the team (except the start JA Morant) and i'm happy of this , I LOVE our history , the grit n grind era , and the defensive game strategy the team used to have (i also love defense in basketball like football)
Of course i still have a lot of things to learn about nba in general but i've really done my homework for the grizz to be fair

Very interesting analysis! I’d tend to agree with you on every point you made about the OG Eva. It’s an extremely raw, emotional roller coaster that Anno brings the viewer on (one that reflects his own inner emotional state at the time). Aside from its aesthetic beauty and heady conceptual ideas, I think it’s so beloved because so many people just straight up relate to the themes of solipsism and nihilism presented in the movie (at least at some point in their lives). I was definitely an angsty teenager so I was definitely seeing myself in many of the characters at times. To this day I still do, in different ways. What makes the whole story a complete gem to me is that it’s used as a sort of blueprint to overcome those negative tendencies and emotions that we all have.

While this is beautiful in theory, I’d agree that it can get super chaotic and sometimes downright unintelligible (especially after only 1 or 2 watch-throughs). Evangelion (in all its iterations) I would say is definitely more Style over Substance in many ways, in the fact that while it does present a ton of substance and nuance, the style can be unbelievably jarring and overpowering where it would cause many to miss the message. For example, the last episodes of the OG serious where we are just in shinjis mind, or in End of Eva, when it shows live action footage and the people in the theatre. It’s mind-blowing (dare I say groundbreaking?) stuff if you really dive into it, but it really asks a lot of investment and work from the viewer to actually dive into it and understand all the symbolisms and meanings buried in all that “style”.

I definitely had to watch a few YouTube explanations myself lol!


When it comes to the rebuild movies, perhaps my mindset going into it is what soured the experience for me. I felt a closure after End of Eva, and wasn’t that interested in the rebuilds tbh. I’ve only seen them once or twice, so forgive me if my memory is a bit foggy on them!

I would probably (and I think I already have) rank the rebuilds the opposite of how you have them, in terms of order. I felt like the movies became even more unintelligible the deeper into the story we got. I realize that it’s its own story, and the whole point was to diverge it from the original series, but I couldn’t help but make many comparisons between the two, where the rebuilds were just inferior to me.

For example (from what I remember): the rebuilds go a lot farther into techno-babble, where they over explain the mechanics of what exactly is going on, especially in battle scenes. The battles after the 1st movie were very confusing to me, and at most points I felt straight up bored and checked out. Many weird or plot convenience type things would happen that would take me out of the scenes because I just could not understand what was happening. Like, Asuka became a dog or something, and Kaoru took of shinjis bomb necklace and instead of throwing it away-puts it on himself-killing himself in the end. In the final movie the ending arc with gendo becoming a god, I had no idea what was happening at all and the whole scene pretty much flew over my head. The fact that asuka didn’t age at all also threw me. And the fact that we had to watch Rei have the exact same arc for the third time when they brought her clone to life, only to kill her in the 4th movie.

Also it seemed to me like the overall story didn’t take place in the real world at any point after the first 2 movies. We get scenes at sets that feel so out of place and apart from logic or the real world that I was just so lost. We go from the real world - to the 3rd impact - to a hellicarrier (was it an angel hellicarrier they were living in) with Misato in the future time skip - to the apocalyptic world - to an underground hidden bunker with kaoru with rooms and staircases strewn about, some not covered at all - to the farmland with the old high school characters - to our world (forgive me that’s all I can remember, it’s been a long time). I couldn’t mentally or logically fit all these different environments/settings together in the same world at the same time. That also had a big impact on the cohesion of all the movies for me. Things would drastically change at the drop of a hat.

To me I felt like the last 3 rebuilds were even more chaotic than the end of the OG series and End of Eva. While I would call myself an attentive viewer, I was unable to focus, concentrate, and ultimately appreciate the rebuilds in almost any way. While the OG series was a character study on each of the main cast, with a spotlight on shinji, the rebuilds felt like they tried to make up for the lack of world building in the OG series (even though I see that as a positive). The stronger focus on explanations and world building took much needed focus away from the characters and character interactions which is Eva’s bread and butter.

Hopefully I didn’t ramble too much and made some sense. I don’t see the rebuilds as a complete waste or anything, and I do think they had some good moments, and the overall message was positive. I did enjoy at least the idea that Anno used the movies as a way to shout out his wife, because of course love is important. I’m sure there’s a lot that I missed in the rebuilds, but to me the story was a bit redundant. While anno’s themes and messages are ones that I do resonate with, I didn’t enjoy the way it was presented in the rebuilds.

I think for me it’s just more of a preference.

Woah!! I’m curious to know your reasoning for enjoying the Evangelion rebuilds more! In my head that’s a spicy take my guy LOL. & ya evangelion is one of my favourite pieces of media tbh it’s unreal.

Honestly I didn’t find the rebuilds that engaging at all. In fact I see them as kinda derivative or redundant, but that’s just me! I know a lot of ppl especially younger viewers (I’m 24) seem to enjoy the rebuilds more. I wonder if that’s moreso just recency bias, or the fact that it’s prettier. But honestly I don’t spend much time in the anime community anymore so I don’t know what people are really thinking or saying I could just be imagining things lmao.

To me original Eva deals with a lot more personal and relatable themes and situations, and you can see clear growth throughout the story. Not to mention the amazing characters who feel soo real and true to life of how real people are and act. There’s lots that I love about it haha. But I’d love to hear your take on the rebuilds, as I’ve seen them all and did not find much to love about them tbh.
