Both series are structured as a series of music videos that tell a connected narrative, while also using its medium of music as an in-universe aspect of the world (+featuring multimedia content alongside the music videos such as comics and voice dramas). The characters of both stories are forced into a cruel and cutthroat setting where they must survive and endure the mental and physical pain being inflicted upon them by the audience and this strange system, as well as the other participants who might pose a danger to them. Both stories are also tragedies that aren't emotionally easy watches.
