Sorry for the late reply (I was watching Steins;Gate). I 100% agree with your reasoning and I have watched quite a few romance animes before. The reason why I didn't pick it as my favourite is because a lot of anime have romance on the side which is good enough for me. I don't really have a favourite genre, as long as the world building and characters are good.
