Honestly, these two are practically twins born from the same era of anime. They both follow the exact same blueprint: a high school guy who is openly obsessed with girls gets killed (or almost killed), is saved by a powerful red-haired beauty from the underworld, and ends up in a master-servant pact where she lives in his house. The vibe is identical—you’re getting serious supernatural politics mixed with ridiculous comedy about the protagonist's desires. If you glanced at a poster for one, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was the other. The big difference comes down to how their "pervert power" actually works. In High School DxD, Issei’s desires fuel him directly—the more he wants it, the harder he hits, making him a frontline fighter who eventually becomes overpowered. In So, I Can't Play H!, the protagonist Ryosuke is basically just a battery. The heroine, Lisara, drains his "spirit energy" (his libido) to power her attacks. The catch is that when she uses his energy, he loses his drive and becomes temporarily depressed or "impotent," which changes the dynamic from a power fantasy to a comedy about a guy trying to protect his mojo. At the end of the day, High School DxD is the heavyweight champion here. It has four seasons, massive world-building, and a much larger cast. It feels like a shonen battle epic that happens to have fanservice. So, I Can't Play H! is much smaller in scale, running for just one season with a tighter focus on the main couple's romance rather than a giant war. Think of DxD as the main course and H! as a snack if you just want more of that specific "devil girl and pervert guy" energy.
