I have to say, the first episode was super jarring and confusing for me, and it was the reason I initially dropped it (much to my regret later on). However, for the more patient and mature viewer, you realize that it perfectly sets the scene for the events that are about to unfold. Every episode feels like a struggle for survival; no one is safe, and everyone is attempting to manifest their ideology into the world around them. I honestly loved the show, the gritty aesthetic was the perfect backdrop to explore the themes the show sets out for the viewer to contemplate. The

dialogue is genuinely intelligent, with the characters all being believable and acting in their self interest (of course not all actions are rational, for most characters are only human after all). I just loved it. The plot is also logical, atleast in the world that is established. You know, the sound of the train traversing the creaking path is still etched onto my head, what a nice calming sound. Look, this show really attempts to capture what it means for someone whose lost everything to try and still fight, to the bitter, cold and lonely end. You should watch.

Okay so this anime is from Wit Studio, the same studio that brought us the first 3 seasons of Attack On Titan, which I have to admit, the animation quality is much better than the current final season being animated by MAPPA, I mean come on, how hard is it not to use disgusting, lazy CGI for the intense fight scenes!? It feels very rushed, and the characters look ugly now, why did they even change studios? Anyways I am digressing, back to this review.
Undoubtedly, I have only seen about 6 episodes, why ? because its just average, especially the fight scenes, they feel
...
sub par to AOT, and lack the weight and "punch" one would expect, furthermore the animation feels rather slugish, and patchy at best.
Concerning the plot, it is rather dull, simply put the father of a viking dies, thus he must redeem him, whereas in the first episode they hinted at going to Anerica, but that is not mentioned at all later. Furthermore the story is retarded, like how did the kid manage to hide in the enemy viking boats in the first place, and why didnt he kill the viking leader at his sleep?
Regarding art style, it is not the best, and looks awfully generic. Frankly I expected WIT to do better, especially since they've done an excellent animation job with not only AOT, but also Kabenari of the Iron Fortress. However the opening, I like, as it gets me hyped up, unfortunately there is nothing to get hyped about.

honestly, I was very excited to see this anime, however, as usual with any anime that Netflix gets its hands on, it turned out to be a very mediocre experiance. Now granted, I have only seen 2 episodes so far, but it was only because of the numerous cringe inducing scenes that continually ruined my enjoyment. The straw that broke the camels back for me was when the "Gamer" Kid (IDK if u can call this kid a gamer, because I hardly got any redpilled vibes from him) asked to borrow his sisters phone to message his "gamer friend from estonia" to seek guidance
...
for where to go. When I first saw this, I just had to pause the video, and laugh at how stupid it was. Furthermore, whats up with him randomly blurting out nonsense in English ?
I mean seriously, just thinking about that scene makes me laugh and cringe at the same time because of its sheer stupidity, like first of all, what are the chances that a japanese kid will make friends with a gamer living in Estonia? most likely the estonian would be in a european server, whilst the kid would be in a japanese server. Secondly the language barrier would be huge to overcome, I mean yeah the kid speaks english, but I doubt many estonians do as well... and even if we consider all of these things plausible, Im pretty sure the timezones would be incredibly messed up, now granted most gamers are pretty into the hussle, spending hours on end, late at night grinding away at the game, however I still find it incredibly hard to believe that a japanese kid and a gamer from estonia would meet up online, and let alone become friends. Shit like this seriously makes me lose immersion.
But it was my fault to expect anything good from Netflix, which for some reason, seems hellbent on making gross furry anime a thing, as well as denegrating the art form to be in line with mediocre western shows. its honestly a tragedy, and we should do everything in our power to ensure Netflix cant ruin anime.
Thats all I got for now. Peace.
