こんにちは、百合豚です。よろしくお願いします!

I like thematically rich stories and good art. My favorite characters tend to be strong, complex, dominant, and/or expressive women. On a mission to read as much Yuri as possible. I don't know what "power-scaling" means and at this point I'm too afraid to ask. I study 日本語 and I'm going to visit Japan one day. (ㆁωㆁ)

i'm always interested to hear analysis and critique on works i enjoy. glad you liked reading it so much! yeah, the axe is sad, but honestly, imo emofuu did a pretty decent job at making it feel as though it hadn't been cut that short. i feel relatively satisfied with how the arcs of the two characters progressed by the end, and i think the way that the serialization concluded left it both open-ended for possible future follow-ups, and for the reader's own imagination, without feeling like it ended on a cliff-hanger. i'm seriously glad that the story continued onwards for a brief while after kazuki left for college; the way events kind of drifted onwards in that little falling-action conclusion section made the story feel more like a discrete portion of a person's life lifted out and brought in front of us for our surveying, rather than a more traditionally closed narrative that feels like it has a start and end point.

it is worth noting, i read the series quite slowly, week-to-week as it was being serialized, which i honestly feel sometimes can leave the reader blind to larger patterns or narrative issues that might run through the work which become immediately visible when reading it at a more self-driven, faster pace. maybe i'll need to reread BPM once it gets a little less fresh in my mind. i'm certainly going to reread chainsaw man from the start once that manga concludes, i've been reading it on a serialization schedule for so long that certain stretches of the story only appear in my mind as vague abstract ideas.

either way, yes, send me your completed review once you write it, i'm looking forwards to it.

noting these down, and yes i do enjoy yuri manga too. the themes and ideas that they explore and the styles with which they do so tend to be more interesting to me these days, dunno why.

fair warning on maria dacascos, there's a reason i have her in my favorite characters list but not fight class 3 in my favorite works list; the first half of the manhwa is very good, i would actually argue one of the better sports manhwa works out there centering around UFC, to the point of motivating me to try out combat sports irl (and has a large number of really likeable characters, including a butch amputee lady whose design i am consistently amazed by to this day) but the second half absolutely spirals into deranged manhwa bonkers writing hell, and the protagonist is utterly unrecognizeable to the point of verging on comedy/parody by the end, but is played completely straight and serious. TLDR, enjoy it, and Maria is a marvelously fun and cool character, but don't take it too seriously past a certain point in the narrative.

thanks for the vote of confidence on my armchair forum analysis. fair warning, i'm generally highly inactive on MAL, i go through little bursts of being around here a lot but generally won't come online for months at a time. either way, cool picks on your favorites list. i'll note down some that i haven't seen to watch later.

your manga list is already a mile long, but i'll add one yuri(ish) rec on top of it, the recently completed "Blue Proustian Moment" by emofuu. in regards to the author, it's her first serialized manga, with her public body of work before this consisting entirely (afaik) of two very little-known one-shots which i haven't yet read myself; but this work is a very strong debut imo. it's a fun read about two girls in a small town in Japan that's being renovated, and contains interesting ideas about class and gentrification that somehow fit seamlessly into the story. i'd say it's especially notable for its possession of a uniquely lighthearted sense of humor and brightness while simultaneously dealing with quite challenging subject matter in an unflinching and honest manner. it's not long, nor is it life-changing, but i feel happy that i've read it, and would recommend it to anyone that likes stories with well-written female protagonists, which is something that you seem to be.

Oh my, you're going to make me blush. Your favs are pretty good too! Did you get into anime in 2022, or did you make aMAL account in 2022?
The avatar is from a Atsushi Kaneko manga. Best art style on the market IMO. 100% never getting an anime adaptation because of how niche he is 🥲
