Preliminary (11/12 eps)
A mistreated daughter is forced to marry someone with a terrible reputation but a heart of gold. This doesn't have an incredibly original story, borrowing from a few other places, but it does everything right. It's not full-blown damsel romance and it's not a badass girlboss anime. It sits comfortably inbetween with some very interesting intrigue and storylines that kept me watching far longer than I thought I would. I binged up to episode 11 without realising I'd done so.

The animation is suprsingly good but it's the storylines that really kept me engaged, it's paces information incredibly well with no massive exposition sequences that I ...

Preliminary (7/12 eps)
Yet another anime with a main character whose name might be unique in Japan but in the UK is painfully generic. Lloyd. I know it's meaningless elsewhere but it's a trend I find hilarious.

Painfully genric sums up the plot as well honestly. The heroes party are exactly what you'd expect, complete with the 1 character whose obviously not totally on board with the 'be bitter and sabotage my entire party and life' plan. It hits all the most generic beats and doesn't even try to pretend it's doing anything original.

I'm going to keep watching this, because I can't help but feel it really defines a ...

This isn't quite the clone I expected it to be. That is the most important thing to start off with.

It combines elements from a couple of fantasy/isekai subgenre's while also portraying an uncomfortably realistic view of feudal/adventuring life. It's not always an easy watch, especially in the first few episodes. I really am enjoying it though and recommend it based on the interesting characters and world. The cast are generally those who don't fit into society and the community feel to the show gives it a pretty unique feeling. I can honestly see myself upgrading this from 8 to 10 if it ends the season ...

Let's start with the positives. The animation is pretty and it's got some solid comedy. The dub is pretty good and the accents are a nice touch. Mona is a fun character whose got depth, so while she's charming she's also got a pretty terrible personality but she's not portrayed as a sociopath, which is nice.

There are two issues with this show though. The one is that the one gag is has gets exhausting almost immediately. If it showed signs of gaining depth as a show and analysing these characters who've all defined they're lives by a single trait then that's be fine, or at ...

As someone who loves a good mystery it pains me to say that this isn't one. Before going into detail the music and animation are pretty good, and it has some neat visual effects. It's also important to note I'm from the UK, and as such absolutely sick to death of everything vaguely detectivey being basically Sherlock Holmes. There are other sorts of detective stories! Since this show is basically Sherlock Holmes as a Japanese school girl in a hotel by someone whose a big fan of Death Parade this does matter.

The big problem is that it sets out rules and then chooses when they ...

This is a very silly anime. It's trying to be relaxing, raunchy, and action and does neither well. I'll bite those off in separate chunks to explain. For reference, I'm the same age as the protagonist, which probably matters.

Relaxing
Ok, so we flash forward through the guys life. He then gets ported to another world, can shop and effectively becomes a successful merchant immediately. No questions asked, no build up, no failure. Anything this guy tries to do he's amazing at. We'll touch on that point again later. There's no real worldbuilding, some interesting characters but they mostly exist to make our protagonist look more amazing. ...

This is an adorable SoL/Iyashikei story. Nothing more, it's funny, heartwarming and easy to watch. I really enjoyed it and I think any fans of those genres will as well, particularly if you stick with it and watch it through to the end.

As usual with Iyashikei both our protags are broken. We don't learn much about Hitoyoshi for a while, we know he lived in a tip of a house, alone and had a uneasy relationship with his parents. Not much more though. Ms. Servant is the first person, and it's a bit of a Dragon Maid style 'learning to live among normal people' ...

In short I enjoyed 90% of this show, it's fun and has some solid comedy, and some admittedly cringeworthy characters. I'm mainly here to warn people that the lead in this, Kray, is frankly aweful. He doesn't care, is clueless and lazy. He doesn't want to me in this anime, and after a while that gets really annoying.

What doesn't help is that the running joke, that his a mysterious all-seeing god hunter, doesn't break for a minute. So rather than a joke it's just this rather ludicrous state of affairs. So to be clear, don't want it expecting anything other than to hate him. ...

I think there are two very valid takes regarding this anime. If you get bored halfway through and drop it that's completely valid. It's a slow burning, slightly directionless anime that's promising a future payoff while progressing at a snails pace. Then in the second half things start happening, so if you break through that and finish it you'll enjoy it.

The characters are, in the first half, stereotypes and unsuprising. I forgot who was related to our protagonist and whether we'd been introducted to certain characters of if they appeared randomly. It's a very standard villianess anime in a school in the first half.

Again ...

Superb. The best example of a slow, slice-of-life anime. It's an introspective manga that takes place over a massive number of years. there's no overarching plot, just the day-to-day happenings of a humanity in it's twilight. It makes you think and feel in abundance, and Alpha is a great protagonist to view all this through. Honestly of all the post-apocalypses in media this is probably the most beautiful.

Honestly I could probably go so far as to say it's quite a philosophical manga, but that might be overstating its intentions. I really do think this is mandatory reading for SoL fans, or introspective thinkers in ...
