Silent Witch: Chinmoku no Majo no Kakushigoto

In the Kingdom of Ridill lives a genius magician known to be the first person to ever use chantless magic. With this amazing skill, Monica Everett joins the Seven Sages as a hero who can defeat powerful dragons, such as the legendary black dragon, all on her own. However, the truth is that the Silent Witch developed chantless magic due to being too shy—preferring to live on a mountain top, far from society.

Her secluded lifestyle changes, though, when a fellow sage tasks her to covertly defend the second prince, Felix Arc Ridill, from attempts on his life. Unfortunately, that means she will have to go undercover as a student at Serendia Academy. Between guard duty and her social anxiety, Monica is facing her most difficult mission to date.

This has become one of my favorite shows of Summer 2025. The first thought I had was, this show must have been inspired by Jobless Reincarnation or had the same writers. Just as before I like the concept.

I like the animation and art... it suits the genre. The main character is very shy but sometimes forgets her shyness when she is thinking aloud, math or strategy. I like her true strength comes form her sharp brain and high intelligence. Which is why she can conjure up spells faster that most others. She feels like a real character, someone dealing with anxiety but whose personality is ... growing.

This anime is for you if you want fantasy, magic, character growth overcoming anxiety & nice visuals, in you anime. This could be better in my opinion if it dwelled into politics of the Kingdom more. Maybe they will next season?

Its a satisfying anime with a satisfying ending. I look forward to next season... if they make one.

Mixed Feelings

The point I want to make about Silent Witch is that it's very cute and handles social anxiety really well — but it can feel repetitive at times.

From the title alone, “Silent Witch,” you can already tell the main character is shy. According to the synopsis, she’s incredibly strong in magic, but her shyness causes a lot of complications. The story balances her strength and awkwardness nicely — one moment she’s powerful, the next she’s struggling to talk to people. It’s a fun contrast, but because of this pattern, I found the story becoming predictable. She shines → she struggles socially → she gets better ... with support and friendship → repeat. Not exactly the same every time, but close enough that you start to expect it.

Character development is where the anime shines. Even though we don’t see every character’s past, they all feel distinct and memorable. Some side characters don’t get much screen time, yet I still remember them. The way the show portrays how people interact with someone shy is surprisingly thoughtful — whether it’s giving them space or reaching out first, it feels realistic and kind of inspiring. It reminds you that good people do exist, and maybe we should try to be more like them.

As for the visuals, they’re really pleasant to look at. Nothing groundbreaking, but definitely above average compared to other fantasy slice-of-life shows. The art style makes you want to stay in that world a bit longer.

Closing thoughts:
Silent Witch isn’t the best fantasy slice-of-life anime I’ve ever seen, but it’s one I’d absolutely recommend to someone new to anime — especially if they like wholesome stories or characters like Bocchi. The story can be predictable and slow at times, but it’s still heartwarming, and the visuals are lovely. For fans of quiet, emotional fantasy worlds, this one’s worth checking out.

Overpower coward main character who is awkward n shy suddenly made it to top 7 strongest mage. Story continue to down slide from 2nd episode with one off episode of dealing with difficult task or bad guys. It introduce unnecessary stuff like playing chess, dancing and a lot more nonsense to deal with her "growth" of awkwardness. If this kind of awkward people in the real world, it would be step on and not be top 7 powerful people. What's the purpose of this bad writing trying to teach people? You will never be an underdog being this shy in the real world. What a ... bad show and a waste of time. Dont even get me start with so many guys perusing her, stop these harem show please. Go out and touch some grass for giving a rating of 8
