nothing of note actually happened, and we barely got to see Utena and Anthy, and no Nanami either :( Like seriously wtf happened to Nanami, she never gets mentioned after the og anime afaik

Supa-late reply (just got around to reading it)~ I sorta feel the same. The subtitle makes it seem like we'll get a nice epilogue to the events of the main series, but end up just getting fluff. It felt like it was supposed to go somewhere, but with all the chapters lacking an explicit connection, it just seems like a fever dream. I stopped taking it seriously at the end of the first chapter, so I honestly enjoyed it for what it was (or whatever the hell it can be interpreted as). But yeah, totally get how you feel. Also, Nanami as an actual character in the manga isn't canon, so I wouldn't have expected her to show up– but it would have been a neat surprise nonetheless.

All the supplementary material to Ikuhara's work is just pretty bland. I don't think a lot of these mangaka really get the vision he has story wise which is why a lot of these just feel very mischaracterized or go nowhere. But the Utena ones feel tone deaf.

This manga was absolute garbage, I did not see the point in it. We had Touga going on a rant about how it doesn't matter if an artist is a pedophile, Juri having hallucinations of Ruka, and Kozue being abused. I couldn't even begin to wrap my head around what was going on with the hospital stuff. At least the ending shows that Utena and Anthy will never be apart no matter what timeline they're in, but I'd kind of prefer them not to be in child form for that so I could actually see it as romantic without being weird. The art was gorgeous at least, but Chiho Saito doesn't seem like she actually writes Utena manga as well as she draws it.

What made this manga clear is that nobody actually learned anything. I'm heavily disappointed with Juri especially YOU'RE STILL SIMPING FOR SHIORI AFTER ALL THIS TIME AND AFTER EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED?! SERIOUSLY?! Okay, now to the stuff I liked: Akio gladly died. Utena is now the prince and she is a badass as always.

@eblf2013 Why is that surprising? She was always supposed to be with Shiori. If anything, Shiori needed to grow and get over her comphet.

@MagicPolly In the end, I believe that Touga learned because instead of accepting Akio's offer and immortalizing his abuse, he saves Anthy and allows them peace. Juri was just paranoid about getting old in her sport of choice, and it was juxtaposed with her jealousy of Ruka. It was always implied that Kozue was abused in the anime. Though why they went mask off with her and Miki's relationship, I'm not sure.
